We've noted recently that the Metro system has seen a big spike in robberies over the last year, with the most cases reported in Metro's parking lots and garages, especially at stations at the end of the lines. So it's not surprising that Metro Transit Police proudly announced today that they apprehended two suspects observed breaking into cars at the Branch Avenue station yesterday morning. Two men, Lawrence White, 23, and Dante Robbins, 22, both of Oxon Hill, Md., have been charged with auto theft, theft from auto and destruction of property after they attempted to flee from Transit Police and crashed what turned out to be a stolen vehicle. They're also facing a charge of assault on a police officer after police say they tried to hit an officer with the vehicle.

Why did you have to act so mean?
Don't you know you're a human being?
Please don't get me wrong because I know expired tags or inspection stickers are not "OK", but...
The only times my cars have gotten tickets for the above is when they were parked in Metro parking lots, while I was using public transportation.
If I had driven to work, alone in my car (like the thousands around me) I would not have gotten a ticket.
And before you call me out of the expired items, I'll add the only times my cars have been broken into were when they were parked in Metro parking lots.
OK, I spent some time rereading the article.
Metro Transit Police did nothing but show up when someone else saw the guys breaking into multiple cars.
Sure, you guys are heros!
I love that maryland puts all the rap sheets online, it makes it so fun to look these guys up. I have a feeling these guys have been breaking into cars for a long time.
These guys haven't learned - they were arrested for driving back in 05/27/2005 - a car with no license plates, no reg., no license, etc. Failed to appear so licenses were suspended.

And make sure it's a BIG book, too. Like the O.E.D. With metal binding. And the magnifying glass as well.
Except we all know they'll get slapped on the wrist with a rolled up copy of "Ranger Rick" and they'll sue the city for emotional distress and they'll win.
