House Conservatives Introduce Anti-Gay Marriage in D.C. Bill

The District of Columbia today gained a few more members of Congress who think they know what's best for our city. A handful of socially conservative House members gathered reporters this afternoon to introduce a bill that would define marriage in D.C. as a "union of one man and one woman," Politico reports. The effort is designed to signal opposition to recent D.C. Council action that would allow same-sex marriages legally performed in other states to be recognized in the District, as well as any further local legislation that might come this year to legalize such ceremonies in D.C.

Get to know Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Tom Price (R-Ga.) and Dan Boren (D-Okla.), D.C.! They have come forward today to represent you, despite never having appeared on a local ballot. Longtime District villain Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) is also a co-sponsor, naturally.

We appreciate Politico's obvious skepticism about the potential success of this bill:

It's not clear if there's any legislative vehicle for the anti-gay-marriage bill or whether Democrats would even allow a vote on the measure.
In other words, good luck with that one, guys.

These people are ridiculous.

They can't propose honest or detailed alternatives for the budget, health care reform, or anything else... I guess they're too busy stepping into everyone's bedrooms.

And I may of heard this wrong but doesn't Chaffetz sleep on a cock every night?

I just masqueraded as an Ohio 4th district member to contact Jim Jordan. Others should do the same.

We NEED more gays married because they'll spend more on GETTING married.

I hadn't really been a proponent of statehood for DC. I've only lived in the area for two and a half years, and have only lived in the District for one. I'm appalled that over half a million Americans still have no representation in the federal government, but I had thought that the best solution for that would be to amend the USC to state that DC gets one Representative and one Senator (I realize that it would take a USC Amendment to make this happen). But now...now I'm jumping on the statehood bandwagon, so effing Congress can stop thinking that they can decide what's best for, again, over half a million Americans who PAY THEIR EFFING SALARIES without a SINGLE SIGNIFICANT VOICE IN ANY MATTER.

As FKS alluded to above, they must have fixed all the other national problems--such as, oh, I don't know, healthcare reform, ending the two wars in which we're involved, stabilizing the US Economy, the massive budget and trade deficits, and so on--without shouting it from the rooftops. Because that's the only explanation I can think of that this absolutely ludicrous and hateful piece of legislation could even be proposed. Right? News for Congress...THIS IS NOT YOUR PROBLEM. FIX THE EFFING ECONOMY AND STOP WORRYING ABOUT WHAT GOES ON IN THE HOMES OF CONSENTING ADULTS.

*stepping down from soapbox*

What is it with these Georgia and Oklahoma Reps.? Are there states too small for them? Do they run out of things to do for their constituents so they have to spend those extra hours trying to run DC? I think their districts must be just a cornfield and a 7 eleven and they just get bored. "Hmm jobs in Georgia or gays in DC... tonight I'm going to work on harassing gays in DC."

Have you BEEN to Oklahoma? If you had, you would understand why their senators are trying to live vicariously through us.

Question: What do Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Tom Price (R-Ga.), Dan Boren (D-Okla.), and Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) have in common?

Answer: They are all assholes.

These are the assholes that Barry Goldwater warned us about. They are not true conservatives at all but meddling little busy bodies who need to shut the hell up and mind their own business.

See, it's not an "anti-gay marriage bill," it's a "pro hetero-marriage bill."

Also, the toilet's not half full. It's half empty. And Marion Barry is a "politican that is moral."

I get it. When Barry said that, he was using "moral" as a euphanism for "crackpot". Because, when all else fails, it's good to fall back on something you know. And Barry knows crackpots. Also crack pipes.
