MARC Train Strikes Car in Rockville, Injuring Pregnant Woman

NBC Washington has a truly ghastly photo of a car impaled by a train crossing gate after it was struck by a Brunswick Line train in Rockville last night. According to the report, 25-year-old Cemile Valencia was stuck on the crossing when the train passed through; despite efforts to force the car in front of her forward, she wasn't able to drive off the tracks in time.

The Wheaton resident sustained serious injuries, but she is said to be recovering at Washington Hospital Center, with no negative repercussions for her pregnancy. No one on the train was injured. Staring down an oncoming train must have been terrifying enough, but the crossing gate that sliced from the back windshield through the front windshield, nearly hitting the driver's head — that's the kind of thing you pay $10 to see some other unfortunate experience in a Final Destination sequel.

In other news that proves truth is stranger than sequels, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer told ABC7, "Usually when it's a train versus a car the train usually wins." Please tell me he was talking about a Decepticon.

And why was she on the tracks when the train was coming?
If I remember my High School Drivers Ed class; Don't enter an intersection or railroad tracks unless you can clear them in one motion.

This is what happens when you add superheroes to the equation. People get lazy. They expect the heroes to get them out of hellish calamities at all hours of the day.
I'm sure PIGMAN was chewing on one of his brethren and was not paying attention to his GPS trouble unit. Lucky lady indeed.

And any fool knows a dog needs a home,
A shelter from pigs on the wing.

Pig Angels! Pig Angels! High up above.
Pig Angels! Pig Angels! High on other hogs.
Your fancy salty skin grafts frying in the pan.
Such a wonderful meal. Fit for any man.
Pig Angels! Pig Angels! They died for my sandwich.
Pig Angels! Pig Angels! Now I'm gonna twitch.

Yeah, on Channel 9 last night they seemed to blame it on rush hour gridlock. Um yeah, all the more reason not to move your car on to the tracks.

"Don't Block the Box"

... is even more important when the box has a 140-ton locomotive chugging through it.

Geeeeesh! I already feel sorry for her kid. "Here, Jordan. Sit on the window sill while mommy puts her make-up on."
