DC for Marriage will hold a rally for marriage equality tomorrow at the John A. Wilson Building as the D.C. Council prepares to cast its final vote on a bill that would allow the District to recognize same-sex marriages performed legally outside of D.C. The rally begins as early as 8 a.m. and the Council session begins at 10. Rally participants are asked to wear white in support of marriage equality.
In its first vote on April 7, the measure passed 12-0; in response, the National Organization for Marriage is now running the radio ad posted above, and a group of African American Baptist ministers have organized rallies against the bill. Ward 8 Council member Marion Barry appeared at one such event last week, announcing that he is against the bill even though he previously stated he would vote for it. The same group, led by Bishop Harry Jackson of Hope Christian Church in Bowie, plans to show up at the Wilson Building tomorrow morning as well.

Can't wait to hear how Barry spins this one. I'm thinking a John Kerry style "I was fer it before ah was agin it." All the while, flossing baby out of his teeth with a silk Bible bookmark. That's class.
haha, I listened to the whole thing before I realized that it wasnt' a joke.
"...and I can marry a princess"
Yes, the consequences of gay marriage are severe.
Love how it's Harry Jackson, a man on his fourth wife, who's leading the fight against marriage.
Dude. Barry's burned through four marriages as well. Maybe he needs to walk on the wild side?
I do believe one could look at Marion's life as "living on the wild side" even though it may not include:

who cares about teaching kids what might soon be legal? they're ALREADY teaching kids that people can marry outside of their race, and you'd be shocked at the number of childrens' books that have "ethnic" (non-white!) characters in them. before we get our panties in a bunch over what schools MIGHT teach kids, we need to fix what they already ARE teaching kids. there are lots of americans with values that are opposed to inter-racial "marriage" just like they're opposed to gay "marriage," and so everybody in the country should obviously cater to them! i'd like a return to only exposing children to depictions of same-race heterosexual couples. we have to climb back up that slipper slope before this gets way out of hand. i mean, what's NEXT? are we going to start teaching kids that they're NOT horrible, unspeakable abominations if they're gay?
...you's miscegenated! All you boys! Miscegenated!
They are already teaching kids that they can get married in Hetrosexual relationships, which has been legal for far too long! Millions of lives are ruined each year by hetrosexual relationships, the picking out of new furniture, the matching polo shirts, the trips to costco, the silent years of quiet despair, the breeding of miserable kids who will one day be shooting up our schools, the late night arguments about one partner not wanting anal sex again this week, the soccer practice, oh god the horror. Yet we still have this hetrosexual marriage monster shoved down our proverbial deep throats whenever we turn on the TV. How many more must suffer?! Millions are opposed to hetrosexual marriage, and millions have suffered the consequence of it's vice like grip on sanity, when will we fix what our schools teach? Life long serial sex with strangers ending in a childless retirement to club Hedonism is the only true path to happiness and societal harmony.
The inherent contradiction of people who have been divorced (sometimes multiple times) screaming about the threat to "traditional marriage" posed by gay marriage never ceases to amuse me.
I mean, really.
