Barack may like Ray's Hell Burger, but Michelle is all about the Good Stuff. Spike Mendelsohn's Good Stuff Eatery, that is. Blogger DC365 spotted the first lady earlier today stopping in the Capitol Hill burger spot to pick up some lunch.

She whizzed past us, waving and smiling, in a kicky little ponytail and grey capri pants, as the crowd shouted "We love you!"
The Twitterverse lit up with several reports of the FLOTUS sighting, too. We like to think the Obamas can now compare notes and discuss which burger is better.

she should have gone to Mr. Henry's. They have the best burgers.

And while i'm dolling out advice- spike, you should bottle that mango mayonaise.

Hell burger vs Good stuff - really? There is no competition whatsoever, HB is way better.

True, except for those Good Stuff milkshakes... ohhhh the milkshakes.

Good Stuff does also have pretty tasty fries (I like the rosemary and sea salt). Though I suppose Ray's counters with those Cheesy Tater Puff things.

those O'Bamas are some carnivorous mfs. I pray for the White House plumbing.
No I don't.

flotus? please explain.

First Lady Of The United States. It's White House shorthand.

There are others. POTUS (the Pres), SCOTUS (Supreme Court), ummm...ok, maybe just those 2 others. They're used extensively on http://www.politico.com/politico44/. Pretty sure that won't show up as a link as my coding skills don't yet exist.

That GSE Obama Burger is a waste of cheese. Good horseradish mayo, though.

Is it time to leave and go see Trek yet? No? Okay, just asking.

The weather combined with anticipation for the movie is killing me right now. I only have 30 mins left at work but it feels like an eternity.

If there is a God she better have ordered her burger Medium Rare! You go, girl!

So this place offers good burgers?

I would say "mediocre and overpriced" is a far better description. Milkshakes are awesome though. And for whomever asked, you don't get to choose how your burger is cooked at Good Stuff.

Hmmm, my reply was meant to go to alexalexalex. Sorry about that.

I prefer my burgers withOUT the side of B.S.

I was actually planning on going there tonight but no more. Also, has anyone tried the Greek place next door since Spike took it over?

The old Greek place was one of my favorites, including the bartender there. Apparently, Spike fired all of the bar staff without so much as a days notice (and told the Post that no one would be fired), so I will not be checking out his new place!

All the camera phones are kind of creepy. Not saying I wouldn't have done the same thing, but shit...

maybe her visit coincided with a Flickr meet!

No kidding. It's hilarious, people only seem to view celebrities through their phones these days. Look up dingus, they're right in front of you! And do you really need that photo of Michelle Obama's side? They'll be 300 on the Internet in ten minutes. Smile and say hello to someone, you'll probably he happier with that 5 years from now.

I know, I know! I can barely walk down the block without people whipping out their cell phones. Or maybe they're calling America's Most Wanted. I don't know. But it IS annoying.

Here's hoping that the Obamas do this sort of thing often enough that it ceases to become NEWS every time they hit a retail establishment of some kind. I'm not saying that people won't still stop and stare, line up for a peek, and take pictures ... the media (and yes, that includes local blogs) can just stop filling us in on all the details.

This makes me happy to see the President, Vice President, and First Lady out and about. George Bush was too busy fearmongering to go out, less terrorists get him. We should be so lucky.
