>> Pianist Dick Morgan is one of the most entertaining performers around. Catch this local veteran on Thursday at Blues Alley for his 8 and 10 p.m. sets. Tickets are $20 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.

>> The National Gallery of Art's Jazz in the Garden is one of the District's best free concert series. Performances take place every Friday from 5 to 8:30 p.m. in the Gallery's sculpture garden. The weekly event begins on Friday, with vocalist Lady A.

>> If traditional vocal jazz is your thing, then head over to Blues Alley on Friday to catch local chanteuse Sharon Clark. Clark has drawn rave reviews for her performances as well as her most recent album, a tribute to the late great Shirley Horn. Tickets to the 8 and 10 p.m. sets are $25 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.

>> The Afro Bop Alliance is a burnin' Latin jazz outfit made up of some of the best players in the area. Winners of a 2008 Latin Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Recording, the Annapolis based septet will be performing this Friday and Saturday at Bohemian Caverns. Tickets to the 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets are $25.
