Separate from the massive main break/sinkhole/gas leak/basement flooding in the 1700 block of Florida Ave. NW, crews are working to repair two other water main breaks in the District this morning.
The first happened around 7 a.m. on South Dakota Ave. NE between 29th and 30th Streets. A larger main broke at that location, but we don't have as many details yet on its status.
The third main break of the morning was a 12" water main at 14th and M Streets NW. That break occurred shortly after 7:35 a.m., and WASA has reportedly already got the flow of water controlled in that area.

There's nothing particularly interesting about this story, since they seem to happen often, its just ironic that both my pregnant co-workers are experiencing contractions right now . . . therefore two more water main breaks may be indeed be imminent . . .
Um. You know I was joking about that whole "Ents flooding Eisengard" thing, right? Hello? Is this thing on? Ooooh, look! A palantir!
I'll take that.
they don't call it breaking news for nothing...
Don't three breaks on the main and a shallowing of yonder earth presage the rise of Chtuthulululemon or something? I read that in the DM's Guidebook. Or was in church?
I'm not into conspircay theories, but it is odd that all three broke right around 7 a.m...give or take...
Oh and thanks WAMU for only saying that 18th St. was closed....maybe you should spend more time checking sources instead of yet another pledge drive....grrrr....
Repent! Head for the hills! Save the wee turtles!
Break yo self fool. Or something to that effect. My interest in this story is circling the drain.
The real story breaks in another few hours, as the water begins to drain by itself, and WASA workers discover miles of underground catacombs echoing with the tormented screams of everyone who ever voted for Ralph Nader. But the really wierd part is that that they're all named "Barry."
Water Main Breakpocolypse! What do we get for free?
Cholera?
