this is obviously very sad. this area has remained fairly dangerous even after construction of the megabox convention center. this apparently occurred right there AT the convention center. i used to get off at the convention center metro to go to giant to get some groceries so as not to go broke shopping at whole foods. i'd often see police there on 7th, sometimes arresting one or more persons. one day coming off that metro i was suckerpunched in the jaw by a teen practically in this same spot, so i stopped taking that particular route to the giant. it's a shame about this guy.

I live around the corner on 10th between M and L Streets and we heard gun shots fired on Monday night. Story here.

I'm wondering if this is all connected.

again while this is sad, why all the press for this? people are shot all over the place in the city...and considering this happened at night not brazenly in the middle of the day or something...it doesn't seem particularly note worthy

a) It happened right by the fledgling (struggling?) Convention Center

b) DCist editors do an admirable job reporting all violent crime in the District fairly. Unlike TV news that just bothers to show up for sensationalized crime "spikes" or acts committed against white people.

The 1100 Block of 7th is actually between L and M, not N as it says in the article.

This is right around the corner from where cops arrested the BeBar killer. Those guys who work the Subway on the corner must see a lot of shit.
