About Tonight

MUSIC: If you're feeling spendy, plenty of tickets are available on Craigslist to see Beyonce tonight at Verizon Center. 6:30 p.m.

MUSIC: For something a little more reasonably priced, try D.C.-raised vocalist Yahzarah, who will be celebrating her birthday at Liv tonight with ChinahBlac, Valencia Robinson and yet-to-be-named special guests. $10 in advance/$15 at the door, 9 p.m.

MOVIE: NoMa Summer Screen is showing Taylor Hackford's uneven but perfectly serviceable biopic about Ray Charles, Ray starring Jamie Foxx, tonight outside the Rhode Island New York Ave. Metro. Film starts at sunset, show up starting at 7 for a DJ and BBQ. Free.

TALK: Sixth and I hosts National Geographic Traveler editor Keith Bellows tonight at 7 p.m. for Sacred Places of a Lifetime. He'll bring the audience to "places that lift our spirits and open our eyes - landscapes, ruins, temples, shrines, festivals, retreats, and more," and sign his book Sacred Places of a Lifetime: 500 of the World's Most Peaceful and Powerful Destinations after the talk. $6, or get 2 free tickets with the purchase of the book at the door.

KARAOKE: Solly's hosts its twice a month Kostume Karaoke tonight, which is always a good time. Turns out it's just more fun to drunkenly sing in a bar when you're wearing a purple wig and a sparkly vest. 8 p.m.

The NOMA summer screen series is on L Street, below the NY Avenue Metro, not Rhode Island. A map is also on their website.
