The number of people at the corner of 18th and Columbia Tuesday night looked more like what you'd expect on a Saturday night. Except that it was as bright as day. From around 9 p.m. to well beyond midnight, a sizable crowd gathered on the sidewalks that weren't in use by the teeming film crew to get a close-up view of the complexities involved in making a big-budget film.
The scene being shot directly in front of the Starbucks was an apparent break-up (or other form of unhappy separation), with Reese Witherspoon's character abandoning Paul Rudd's via a taxi which he hails for her.
Owen Wilson was not in the scene, but lurked in the shadows among the crew (Jack Nicholson was not present). Rudd crossed the street at one point to spend a few minutes chatting with the crowd face-to-face. He was apologetic for the inconvenience caused to the neighborhood, and stopped to pose for photos with a couple of fans, unleashing his killer smile a couple of times.
The as-yet-untitled movie is directed by James L. Brooks (As Good As It Gets, Terms of Endearment) and has been shooting around D.C. for the past couple of weeks.

Why couldn't they get the taxi to say "D.C. Cab"?
Monkey's comment about her big forehead in four, three, two, one...ACTION!
Wasn't the countdown supposed to start at five?
D'oh!
Christ, this is more depressing than that very special episode of Diffrent Strokes where Nancy Reagan tells Arnold and Willis to just say no to drugs. God, I was so f**king high during that show, I wept all the way through The Facts of Life where Blair didn't get her Paris romance and instead discovered...herself.
Now hundreds now know how fucking boring a movie shoot really is.
id take this type of disruption over the weekend bar crowds any day. paul rudd is my kind of eye candy. ;)
i'd rather feast my eyes on mr. reese whitherspoon, jake gyllenhaal. mmm mmm good!
ohh thats why it was cloudy yesterday. reese's chin was blocking the sun.
hiooo
btw, who picked this cab.
where are the mismatched seats?
the peeling fare stickers on the window?
I think I have actually gotten into some wicked fights and broken up with my significant other on that corner too. Ah, memories.
is that woman in the 4th picture supposed to be witherspoon's extra? i barely see a resemblance.
stand-ins are only supposed to have the same hair and skin color and be the same height, weight and build. they don't have to look alike.

It was nice to meet paul rudd that night, he was looking bored with the little scene, and came over to greet us watching from in front of mcdonalds. less apologetic, more thankful that people are there to watch and wait
picture 13 is paul rudd deciding wether to cross the street to say hi to people or not.
How charming and unique that they picked a spot with both a Starbucks and a McDonald's.
nice street shots here
Good to see Owen Wilson is eating out of the trash can like our native species...the destitute.
7th photo of rudd's step-wave combo is great
Gotta say, Reese's ensemble isn't doing anything to dispel the DC bad fashion stereotype. Icky shorts, sloppy long-sleeved sweater. Ewwwww
lol @ GreenA's comment, I have definately hopped into a cab mad @ significant other on that corner, not sober. I think they might be filming about movie about my life, except can't say I've ever worn white shorts and a frumpy top like that in public, or ever. haha
