Earlier this morning WMATA put out an alert that customers should expect delays in both directions on the Green Line due to a report of an unauthorized person on the track bed at Southern Ave. Now the Examiner reports that the person was actually a man in a wheelchair who had fallen onto the tracks. It's not totally clear how the man fell, but he reportedly sustained head injuries and has since been transported to a local hospital. It's certainly been a rough week for Metro. Just yesterday, a man died after he jumped in front of a Red Line train at Forest Glen, and that was only two days after Metro reopened the Red Line for the first time last week's crash, which killed nine people.

OMFG WTF is up with all these Metro incidents?
Curse!
I'll bet his wheelchair didn't crumble like a 1000-series car when it hit the tracks.
i am going to start a blog that tallies the number of incidents per station. i copyright this idea and will sue you for $100 million if you try to do anything like it!!
Too late:

damn it all to metro
I'm pretty sure we're on a natural progression to something such as... Chasm Opens at Foggy Bottom Station Sending Trains, Occupants to Fiery Depths of Hell
OK people, can we make an effort to keep ourselves off the Metro tracks? If you have to end it all, the least you could do is not screw up our commute even more than it has been already.
I have a friend who was almost late for his BAR exam because Metro was delayed due to a suicide.
Good Lord... so he was on the platform and just.. rolled off of it? Was he in a fight and someone pushed him and the chair? Balance isn't something he has to worry about as much as a standing person when they are both on the platform edge, right?
I think Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson and Billy Mays are haunting the metro and causing all of this.
Chad Ocho Cinco, is that you? ;-)
Metro English ® strikes again: “due to a report of an unauthorized person on the track bed at Southern Ave.”
What, the guy isn’t authorized to be a person?
I guess "unauthorized person" is the new "sick passenger."
Metro: Customers can expect delays. ®
Jeez what a crappy week for Metro! I wonder how someone got that close to the platform edge in a wheel chair... I've been worried about bumping into someone and losing my balance toward the edge... but you would think it'd be harder unless they didn't have a brake or something...
*sigh* Metro needs some good publicity to offset all this bad press lately...
Also, I despise Metro English (R) whole-heartedly!
What was that movie called where all the cars came to life and started killing people?

Maximum Overdrive
Christine
The Car
Blood Car
Event Horizon
And don't forget "Trucks," the made-for-TV, truck-focused remake of Maximum Overdrive.
Clearly people who comment here have been getting their dose of 3 AM Sunday night Sci Fi Channel movies.

Transformers?
Transformers?
Killdozer!
That's the one! The whole Metro is demonically possessed. Time to take it out before it takes us! Or just feed it a bunch of tourists every day. One or the other.
Just an idea, but I'm thinking it's time to invest in those Airport double-door systems.
Bam, problem solved.
What is it called?
