Here's some more places to avoid at all costs, or where you can try to get on TV -- earlier today, Capital Restaurant Concepts' Twitter feed said "Just did interview outside The Real World house...construction is ongoing and they're slated to visit our restaurants." Their restaurants include J Paul's, Old Glory, Georgia Brown's, Paolo's, Neyla and Pik a Pita. If you ask us, it's pretty lame that the Real World folks already have their destinations picked before they've even moved in. Maybe that's why some cast members are rarely shown on TV: they don't go to the chosen bars and restaurants with the rest. That, or they're really boring. For more places that have accepted or refused the Eight Strangers, check out our post from this past weekend. The cast is supposed to move in within a few days. Hat tip to the RealWorldDCNEWZ Twitter feed for the CRC post.

is real world relevant today? who watches it?
Does anybody remember when the Real World was actually REAL... It might as well be the "Beautiful World" now... Now it's just a bunch of scripted drama b.s.
Does anyone really believe a network would chance so much in operations cost and program timing on... reality? Get real. It is and was always scripted.
Yes they would, I bet the commercial revenue from the first episode alone pays for the entire production. Reality TV is cheap that’s why it is everywhere.
nope. they've always had writers on staff to create storylines from the footage and they do things off screen (ask certain questions, throw things and activities into the mix) to provoke certain actions, but it has not always been scripted. That doesn't mean that it has been "real," but it's NOT The Hills or that Paris Hilton/Nicole Richie BS or other bogus shows that *are* scripted.
Why is this such big a big deal? Let them be and move on with your life. It seams that its in hip to hate them.
So hip that it's uncool. No doubt. WTFC so long as they don't double park, stand on the right, or make the local bar inaccessible?
Seriously. Dupont already has folks who leave used condoms on the sidewalk and let buildings collapse 'cause they're absentee assh*les. How much worse could this scripted treacle be?
I'm thinking by doubleparking, making bars inaccessible, and filling building up with so many used condoms that they collapse.
I think it's pretty typical for the Real World to make arrangements with certain restaurants. I remember watching a "behind the scenes" type show (it might've been the E! True Hollywood Story), and one of the former cast members said that the show had some type of contract with Taco Bell or something. So if they didn't feel like being on camera they would just go to McDonald's. Remember the Sydney season when they ate at Subway like *every* day?
I walked by this house yesterday evening... and I did think it was pretty strange that people were taking photographs on the porch in front of a table saw since it was obvious no one was living there. The girls having their pictures taken were pretty, but were decidedly not "dc" in appearance - funky hairdos and a bit over accessorized for my taste. Should be interesting. Maybe they will entice more "less-dc" people to visit or move to the area.
Well they pretty much have to. They used to just film wherever the cast went and then get consent letters later; but that created chaos with patrons and owners. Now, they get permission from the owners and slap a "If you enter, we have you consented to be filmed" sign on the door, things go much easier.
Thats really annoying that Capital Restaurant Concepts has joined the bandwagon. Paolos is one of my favorite places to escape because it is so tame and quiet. I even mentioned that I hoped real world didn't come in there and all the awesome employees seemed to agree.
Now do we have to expect screaming matches, drunks, and catfights? Ugh. I won't be patronizing these places if I see a camera crew in the vicinity.
Real World? More like the scripted limited reality world.
Seems like an awesome tool to know what places to avoid...
