Good morning, Washington. It's one of those days when it's tough to be a local news watcher, with such serious and disturbing stories coming out of Iran. Just makes it feel a little insincere to get worked up about the ongoing Krispy Kreme v. Fairfax County lawsuit when people are being beaten by police for disputing the results of an election.

When in doubt, DCist likes to bring the news you can use, so do note that Metro has confirmed that as of early this morning, the Red Line is finally back to business as usual after a woman appears to have intentionally committed suicide by getting hit by a train at the Bethesda station. Sunday's Metro death was the second fatal train accident in two days.

"...the District, according to the study, has done little to coordinate “disjointed” programs into a broader citywide strategy, to share information among community partners, to publicize youth violence prevention efforts and to improve education and mental health services." Gee, ya think?

Briefly Noted: Bethesda townhouse fire kills elderly couple ... Family of man struck and killed by D.C. police cruiser files lawsuit ... Hearing set for this afternoon on Holocaust Museum shooting ... Historic D.C. Courthouse to be rededicated.

This Day in DCist: In 2007, the Senate side of the U.S. Capitol building was hit with an epidemic of hallway poo.
