Mystics Season Begins This Weekend

2009_0605_mystics.jpg The Washington Mystics open their regular season in Connecticut today against The Sun, and play their home opener at the Verizon Center on Sunday at 4 p.m. against the Atlanta Dream.

Sunday's matchup will feature this year's top two draft picks -- the Dream's Angel McCoughtry and the Mystics' Marissa Coleman. Both players find themselves neck-and-neck in preseason Rookie of the Year predictions -- but if Coleman is looking for motivation, the league's general managers believe that McCoughtry will be the better player in five years. This weekend should provide a first glimpse as to what both rookies will bring to the table.

Tickets for tomorrow's game are as little as $15 and available here.

This season looks promising. Harding and Coleman may be the key to better playing on the court. The vets sure stank up the place last year, and the year before that.
