FRIDAY:

>> Lots and lots to see at Artomatic tonight. We're especially intrigued by a performance by Guiles and Wiles, set for 8 p.m. on the 6th floor Dance/Theatre Stage, which claims to combine belly dancing with a drag king show.

>> SILVERDOCS is also ongoing through the weekend. Look over the schedule, utilize the stand-by lines (budget 45 minutes to an hour of waiting) for sold out shows, and check back often for DCist's latest reviews.

>> Pianist and stellar Latin jazz artist Benito Gonzalez is back in D.C. this weekend, leading a band through 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets on Friday and Saturday at Bohemian Caverns. Tickets are $18. After Friday's second set, you can stick around and catch DCist faves, The Young Lions.

>> Baltimore's Carolyn Malachi switches between jazz vocalist to emcee rather effortlessly, sometimes in the same song. She'll be at Bloom Bars in support of her new release, Revenge of the Smart Chicks II: Ambitious Gods. Free, 8 p.m.

>> Natalie Portman's Shaved Head continue their June residency at Liberation Dance Party this week. Their brand of electro pop will certainly fit in seamlessly with DC9's weekly indie dance party. $8; open bar (rail drinks) 9-10:30 p.m.

>> The Rosslyn BID is showing Labyrinth tonight as part of their I Love the '80s outdoor movie series. At Gateway Park at dusk. If you feel like dancing afterward, head over to Continental, where they'll be throwing a free '80s after party.

SATURDAY:

>> The Corcoran Gallery of Art kicks off its Free Summer Saturdays (through August 29) today; head down this weekend for an Earth First Family Day featuring art workshops, music, tours and more. Make sure to leave time to see the brand new William Eggleston retrospective, which also opens today.

>> Brightest Young Things' ongoing Summer Camp pool party at Capitol Skyline Hotel continues this weekend, featuring art installations, body painting, and camp-style crafts, along with some DJs. 12 to 8 p.m., all ages, $10. Drinks, food, lockers available for purchase/rental. Also at Skyline, see video art screenings curated by Brandon Morse from Conner Contemporary at 6 p.m.

>> The Beer, Bourbon & BBQ event at National Harbor sure sounds like a winner. What's not to like? Advanced tickets are closed, but regular admission tickets can be purchased starting at 2 p.m. tomorrow for $35. Could be a pretty great option for an early Father's Day present.

>> Warhol fans have it made today. Head to the Portrait Gallery for the all-day, family-friendly Warholapalooza. The day starts at 11 a.m. with art workshops, and the kiddie festivities continue at 12:15 p.m. with a book reading with Andy Warhol's nephew and his book Uncle Andy's: A Faabbbulous Visit with Andy Warhol. If you don't have any kids in tow, you may want to show up at the McEvoy Auditorium at 2:30 p.m. for Reel Portraits: Andy Warhol's Screen Tests (doors at 2 p.m.), at which Warhol scholar Callie Angell will present "motion- picture portraits Warhol created of Marcel Duchamp, Lou Reed, Edie Sedgwick, and Kenneth Jay Lane," followed by a discussion. At 5 p.m. (doors at 4:30 p.m.), critic Calvin Tomkins will further discuss Warhol with the Portrait Gallery's Anne Goodyear.

>> Lots of other evening art events in our Arts Agenda, including several opening receptions (and an "alley block party"!) at galleries along 14th Street NW. Click here for more details.

>> Folks familiar with the NYC house music scene know DJ Mr. V. He's added his semi-rapping style to numerous records by the Masters at Work and his own productions. He'll be at the Trinidad and Tobago Association (5123 Georgia Avenue) with Chris Burns and the Columbia Heights Allstars. $5 before 11 p.m./$10 after 11 p.m.

>> Post-hardcore fans already know where they'll be tonight. Legendary locals FRODUS are back, and performing at the Black Cat. With The Van Pelt and Guiltmaker. $13, 9 p.m.

SUNDAY:

>> Does your dad like jazz? Think about taking him to see Baltimore bassist Vatel Cherry, who will lead his octet, Soul Station, at Twins Jazz. They play jazz ranging from the traditional to the avant-garde. Call 202-234-0072 for set time and cover information.

>> Or, take Dad to the Nats game. They're serving a couple different Father's Day promotions as the team takes on the Blue Jays at 1:35 p.m.

>> Hippie Alert! Malcolm X/Meridian Hill Park will be filled with drum circles, hackey sack players and the like all day for the The Sacred Festival, the annual summer solstice event in the park. It runs from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
