Weekend Gallery: D.C. Caribbean Carnival

DCist photography contributor James Calder was on the scene relishing in the good vibes at the D.C. Caribbean Carnival yesterday and soaking in the costumes, the people, the dancing, and of course, the plentiful mud throwing. (If you've never been, these pictures will certainly reinforce the need to wear less than your Sunday best to the Caribbean parade, one of D.C.'s more raucous processions.)

If you missed out yesterday, no worries: the Marketplace aspect of the Carnival continues today from noon to 7 p.m. at Banneker Park -- with plenty of food, arts and crafts and traditional music to be experienced.

What was with Falun Dafa and the one-man dragon dancer heading up the parade in the 2nd spot?

Is it just me, or does anyone else think Fenty participate in all of these parades simply because he LOVES throwing beads?
