You've Got Until June 20 To Prepare (Maybe!)

We get a little bit tired of telling you to take these tidbits with a grain of salt, but -- you might want to take this tidbit with a grain of salt: We Love DC is reporting through Twitter-sources that the Real World's D.C. drunkfest season will begin filming based in a Dupont Circle house on June 20. We had previously thought that the reality show's producers were simply beginning to look for assistants, but if this piece of news turns out to be accurate, then the oncoming storm is far more closer than any of us imagined. While a little less than three weeks is obviously not enough advance time to build an appropriate bunker with appropriate rations, this is (likely) the hand we have been dealt.

Who at DCist is going to be on the ground, digging up the dirt? You can't rely on We Love DC as the source for all things Real World!

Thank the lord(or whoever)almighty that they are Dupont's problem and not Adams Morgan's...no offense Dupont because surely they will be swilling drinks in our neighborhood often enough...ugh...

Quite prescient, Adam. Even though the house is in Dupont, you know damn well they'll spend most of their time drunkenly douchefying your neighborhood and vomiting on 18th Street. Somebody let MS-13 know that we have targets--I mean, guests--coming for the summer.

this is only the latest in a years-long stream of evidence that Dupont has jumped the shark as far as any shred of actual coolness is concerned.

I'm surprised that they would pick Dupont - but if you've looked at a real estate listing, "Dupont" could mean almost anything between 7th and 22nd. Real World is really all about the house they can find and redesign for their purposes. If they're starting this month, where are the rumors of a gigantic house that's been gutted and turned into douche orgy hostel? It's not like they sign a lease and start filming a week later in some dumpy group home.

Holy crap! Your comment got me to thinking - they've been renovating that gigantic house at the corner of S and New Hampshire for the last few weeks. I think it was a former embassy or consulate, but no one has lived in it for years (at least as far back as 2002). It was a s*hole with peeling stucco and no windows, so it had to have cost a small fortune. I can't for the life of me figure out what could go in there, especially in this economy, but it seems as it it could foot the bill. Definitely large enough, and depending on what they put into it, maybe flashy enough.

Yes, yes, now we're speculating!

Looking it up on Google, type in 1713 S Street NW. That's the place I'm thinking of.

Are you sure about the address? A search of existing D.C. building permits doesn't come up with anything for 1713 S Street....

Is it the big white one with small windows? If so, you could be right. That is one fugly mansion.

Well, if it's 15,000-20,000 square feet it could be a candidate. That seems to be the ballpark size of the past few "houses." Wish I had a "house" like that. I'd get lost in it.

Oh, so that's what they're doing with the Dupont Underground?

Deep will know better than I, but I've heard that MCCXXIII has been taken over by CHUDs. This explains the mass disappearance of Man U fans from Lucky Bar last week, as well as the proliferation of spit-out gum on the sidewalk (CHUDs love Hubba-Bubba).

I'm excited about this!

Do they still make them get "jobs"? Internships on the hill maybe? I'm sure they'd fit right in with all the freshman gov majors.

“We’d love to include a person who is physically challenged, an individual struggling with weight issues, someone whose family or themselves are dealing with the immigrant-to citizenship process, an individual who is coming out of the foster care system, someone who is currently grieving over the loss of a spouse or significant other, or a cast member who wants to bring the spotlight of The Real World to a cause or social issue they care deeply about.”

Oh gawd.

I drove past it tonight on my commute home. The official address is 1800 New Hampshire Avenue, NW. There's a big sign out front for The Levine Group, which is a local fru-fru architect. There is also a chain link fence put up. We'll see - I'm 50/50. It definitely looks like its' ready for someone to move in.

NOOO this article just ruined my night. why do they need to invade dupont?? :(

The property in question, 1800 New Hampshire (thanks DreadPirateRoberts) is being rennovated for the Embassy of the Congo according to dc.gov building permits. So that rules that out...

Good work! Let the sleuthing continue!

how about 1739 P street? it's huge and currently under renovation. can't see it being ready by end of june tho...

Has anyone else noticed the place being renovated at 20th and S? I work in the area and have noticed a lot of activity after the place sat unoccupied for several months. This might not mean anything, but the permits on the front door (heck yeah I checked!) say the building has been re-zoned from offices to residential.

there's a furious pace of construction, the parking meters on both S street and 20th street have been blocked off all week, and a random hipster has been hanging out on the porch all day today.

hmmmmm...but if it's really the place, they have A LOT of work left.

How about 1717 15th St, NW. 8 Bedroom, for rent, remarkable appearance. I hope to god not, but it seems likely.

The address is 2000 S. St. They informed some of the neighbors last week.
Across the street at 2001 S. St is a middle school on the 2nd floor...6-7-8 graders. The neighbors have complained about these kids on numerous occasions for all the problems they pose in the neighborhood. This should be very interesting. The kids can see the house from all the windows.

So, did we miss anything good? Looks like the 20th flew by without me even noticing :/ brainwave entrainment
