sprin.jpg It's July in D.C., and you know what that means -- you'll have your fill of festivals and musicals to choose from (if not necessarily much else) in the theater world. Here's what's on the horizon.

Prepare yourself -- you're about to be inundated with mini-reviews. The Capital Fringe Festival kicks off Thursday, and we've got a team of critics to bring you the highlights and low lights. Chris Klimek already got a glimpse of what's to come. (July 9).

If Fringe isn't your bag, there's always the Source Festival, which we gave you a rundown about last month -- the event continues through July 12.

And let's not forget the Hip Hop Theatre Festival which wraps up this Saturday.

As for those musicals? Olney has a new production of Ain't Misbehaving (July 8). The national tour of the innovative Spring Awakening is stopping at the Kennedy Center (July 7). And Wolf Trap brings you a production of the classic, 42nd St. (July 17).

Also this month:

  • Journeymen's entrant into the Fringe Festival is It's Not Easy Being Green (July 10).
  • Forum closes its season with dark play or stories for boys (July 11).
  • Second City stops at Woolly Mammoth with its show Barack Stars (July 14).
  • Studio Theatre has Fucking A on its SecondStage. (July 15).
