Desi Deschaine Remembered at Logan Circle Vigil

Family, friends and colleagues of D.C. Council staffer Desi Deschaine, who died Sunday night in an apparent drowning in Baltimore Harbor, gathered in Logan Circle last night to remember a young man who was dedicated to community service.

Sunflowers were handed out in memory of Deschaine, who was only 29. People who knew him shared a few words at the vigil, including At-large Council member Kwame Brown. Mourners also observed a moment of silence for the beloved staffer, who lately had been serving as Ward 2 Council member Jack Evans' communications director. Deschaine was also active in local LGBT politics, and was a member of the Gertrude Stein Democratic Club.

That looks like a nice turn-out to pay their respects to this young man. While I knew nothing of him before his death, what I read about him, and the thoughts of other commenters, speak well of him. God rest, young man.

So sad that life cut short. Looks like a moving tribute.

Thanks for the pictures, Tra.
