Kiko's Chicken Abruptly Closes, to be Replaced by Pollo Mio

2009_0713_kikos.jpg Relatively new Columbia Heights chicken carryout spot Kiko's Chicken has closed up shop, Prince of Petworth reports. The restaurant had only opened in March, but had kept odd and inconsistent operating hours, often closing at 8 p.m. on weeknights. For those who had a chance to try out Kiko's equally inconsistent online ordering service, their memorable/grating theme song, "I want to eat ... Kiko's right now!" will surely be missed. A message on the outgoing voicemail at Kiko's says that a new Peruvian-style chicken joint, to be called Pollo Mio, will soon take over the space.

There are so many roast chicken options in that neighborhood. It's practically become the Pollo District: there's El Pollo Redundanto, El Pollo Superfluoso, El Pollo Howmuchf**kingpollocanoneneighborhoodhandle, and a little pollo bird told me they're about to open an El Pollo Andshesbuyingastairwaytoyourmom.

no loss. wasn't too go anyhow.

Ooo! I hope they serve a hooker with their hot sauce.

Where are all these chickens coming from. I haven't heard of this many chickens in all my years. Are they cloned? Is this what they mean by a chicken in every pot? I'd much rather some pot for all my chickens.

You're thinking of Eraserhead Brand® Chickens: "Strangest damn things, they're man-made....BUT THEY'RE NEW!"

What the hell is a Kiko's Chicken? Huh? And where exactly is the address?

No real loss, since every time I brought in something that needed to be photocopied, I got nothing but confused looks from the people behind the counter.
