D.C. police are looking for help locating three missing children from Northeast D.C. that have been missing since 8:45 a.m. yesterday morning. The kids, four-year-old Keith Gray, two-year-old Mykia Gray and five-month-old Kenyon Gray, were reported missing from 2106 I Street NE around 1:30 a.m. today, according to emails from MPD. The children, all light-complected African-Americans with brown eyes and brown hair, were left in the care of their mother's cousin, Toilynn Braxton, who police say is often seen in the 14th St. NW and Georgia Ave. NW corridor. Police do not suspect foul play, but are asking for the community's help in providing any information as to the kids' whereabouts. Call 311 with any information. Fifth District Commander Greene has also made an urgent plea for assistance in passing out fliers to locate the missing children. Anyone able to assist in passing out fliers is asked to meet at the Command Post at 22nd & I Streets NE.

Missing since 8:45 a.m. yesterday but no foul play? Something is foul.

So Molly the Missing Dog merits a photo but these kids don't? Why does DCist hate children?

As soon as MPD releases photos, we'll post 'em.

"..is often seen in the 14th St. NW and Georgia Ave. NW corridor." Begin reading between the lines... now.

Were they tied to a tree outside of Whole Foods?

(too soon?)

To report a suspected illegal firework vendor or a licensed vendor suspected of selling illegal fireworks, please call 911 immediately.

Interesting.

No foul play? What, did the five month old infant just crawl away all on his own?

"...asking for the community's help in providing any information as to the kids' whereabouts"

How are we supposed to do that without pictures, MPD?

I saw a woman with 3 kids matching that very description at the Columbia Heights metro yesterday evening...oh wait, that could have been any mother with her 3 young children. Need pics!

Ok, I take it back...thanks MPD and thanks DCist. Ok, so now I'm almost 95% positive that I saw this little girl and little boy at the metro stop yesterday. She was wearing cute little overalls with her hair in braids with a barrette. I only noticed because there was a woman in front of them who was holding a baby that was crying and she half turned around to yell at the kids who were like 5 paces behind her holding on to the rail and trying to walk down the stairs as 5pm metro rush trampled past them. I remember thinking that I would totally get arrested if someone physically hit their child in front of me because I would go all angsty bitch on their asses.

Anyway, can't be positive but I'm going to leave a tip.

...missing since 8:45 a.m. yesterday morning ... reported missing around 1:30 a.m. today...

Doesn't strike me as that odd ... the cousin was supposed to babysit for the day, she didn't show up at the end of the day, the mom spent an evening panicking and phoning around to family and friends trying to find her, failed, then gave up and called the cops. Right?

As a parent this strikes me as very odd. If I could not find my kids at the appointed time and place in this day of cell phones, texting, email or even plain old fashioned paper note taped to the door with a great explanation, I would hit 911 right away.

I think locating Molly and the missing kiddos should be the Real World kids' first assignment.

looks like they've been found safe in Columbia Heights.

The "caretaker" was arrested (she had an outstanding warrant) but overall this could've been so much worse. Thank goodness they're all right!

According to @NBC4Washington: "Three missing NE D.C. kids left with a relative have been located at a recreation center at 14th and Girard Streets NW." Found via @bogrosemary. There's some good news for the day.

Damn you, DCist, for your slow-ass commenting uploads! Braver beat me to it! ::shakes fist::
