A sunny day...a man in a suit with his back to us ready to sell newspapers to passing motorists...a beaten path...an even-further beaten spot to stand on. Thanks to the perspective and subject of ::-::'s shot, my head fills with a low, haunting, jangly guitar score the more I stare. EXIF.

I see him every time I walk to my gym from work. I think he's a Nation of Islam guy.
Flashback to the Exorcist.
Brotha's sportin a nice Magritte vibe goin on.
Monkey and I are on the same wavelength - I immediately thought of Magritte too. Love the photo!
i thought magritte too.
Henry's right. He's Nation of Islam. Sells papers and bean pies on that corner every single day.
Who exactly is he selling to? The grass? The guardrail? All I can see is that scary NOI guy from "The Wire"
Perhaps, I can buy a Harper's from him next time I'm on Mass Ave.
He sells to cars that stop at that intersection. I'm tempted to give him a friendly "Shalom!" sometimes when I pass just to see how he would react.
Yeah but that bare patch of dirt is a long way from the intersection

He usually walks back and forth (I guess sort of marching alone.) When the red light goes on at 2nd and Mass he tries to sell papers to people stopped in their cars.
And he does jody calls every once in awhile.
wait, is that a men's shirt from American Apparel© he's wearing? no, i've just been staring at that ad for too long and now everyone's wearing one.
Nation of Islam, really? He's giving me that feeling: The curtains flew and then he appeared saying don't be afraid.
Seasons don't fear the reaper, nor do the wind, the sun, or the rain. We can be like they are. Come on baby... don't fear the reaper!
I think Monkey's got a fever. And the only prescription is...
(wait for it)
...more cowbell!!!!
Needs more cowbell.
(come one, someone had to say it.)
I see Chauncy Gardner.
Yeah, kinda. But Magritte got there first.
he is right outside my windows; we check on him when the weather is bad
The Pursuit of Happiness
yup, we see him just about every day. i've been tempted to flash a $5 & see if he'll sell me a paper--even though i'm not his target audience. he only holds the paper out to certain people sitting at the light.
Oh, they'll sell the paper to white devils. You may be white but your money is green. Everyone in this thread owes it to themselves to pick up a copy of "The Final Call." It makes the Weekly World News look like The Manchester Guardian. Did you know that the Earth is 76 trillion years old, or that white people were invented in a laboratory by an insane African scientist? I didn't! Once you accept this basic truth, everything about the world starts to make SENSE!
Monkey, you ever hang out in Chinablock on a Friday night and check these guys out?

It's free entertainment? Better than watching a homeless guy junkpunching a chud!
The F.O.I. boys actually provided a valuable public service by beating the living $h!t out of all the drug dealers in Clifton Terrace. These "real jew" guys? WTF? I don't see these guys getting involved in entertainment law or running delis or turning their kids into neurotic messes. And why aren't they in Jersey? Huh?
I see this guy all the time too! Always very polite!!
