Hands Off Our Butterstick, San Diego!

Bai Yun, the San Diego Zoo's female panda, just thinks she's soooooo great, doesn't she. She's been popping out babies left and right over the last few years, already having had four to our own Mei Xiang's one, and then just to pour salt in the wound, she had to go and have a fifth one yesterday. Well la-di-dah, San Diego. Aren't you friggin' special.

But kindly note that your zookeepers don't seem to have come up with a better size comparison for the newborn panda cub than a stick of butter. Not very original. Hopefully we don't even need to ask, in your infinite panda breeding superiority, to kindly not horn in on our nickname. We have but one child panda upon which to place all our hopes and dreams, so please, pretty please, leave us the name. With so many pseudo-pregnancies already behind us, it's all we may have left.

Great! Since they've got a few, can we eat one now? You know, just to try it. What? Hey, you never know.

That's how they do it...in Australia.

When they're not being eaten alive by feral dingos, that is.

And don't name it Molly, either.

I agree, Sommer. So San Diego thinks they're hot shit because they keep having panda cubs...BFD. We've got our own fertile females in Front Royal!

So when China comes knocking at our door for Butterstick, perhaps we can substitute in one of the San Diego cubs. They're way over their quota, reasoning which shouldn't be lost on the PRC.

A few weeks ago I saw a guy wearing a yellow tshirt that had a graphic of a panda and Stick of Butter (or something like that) underneath it. It was a pretty cool tshirt and I've been trying to figure out where he got it from for weeks now. Does anyone have any clue?

I know who made those (and have one of my own) but I'm guessing that Spreadshirt store is long gone. I'll ask the maker about it, though.

Ah, it wasn't Spreadshirt, but rather CafePress. These the ones you mean? http://www.cafepress.com/bstick

Yes, that is the shirt! Thanks so much Sommer, I was going crazy trying to track it down!!

San Diego ... isn't that just a fancy way of saying "North Tijuana"?

Well la-di-dah
Oh, I get it that's not what they're callng the new panda.
