There are early reports coming in that D.C. police have found the body of a man in Rock Creek Park. A jogger reportedly called in finding the body at around 11 a.m., and police say it was lying in a creek near 24th Street and Beach Drive NW. Another Rock Creek jogger who happened by the scene tells DCist that the man appeared to have been discovered face down in the water, and that he was dressed in jogging clothes. No word yet from police on the cause or nature of this death.

Where the heck is that intersection?? Does Beach Drive even cross 24th?
+1; WTF?
They probably meant RC Pkwy and 24th....near Woodley Park, perhaps?
No swimming in Rock Creek with your headphones on, folks!!
Get back in the meat wagon, Liz.
Rock Creek Parkway - Where DC Hides The Bodies.
Well, it looks like the body quota has been met for RCP before the year's end.
My guess - where Rock Creek splits to go to Beach Drive on the right and Connecticut Ave on the left. But is there a stream there?
That sounds about right, but I don't recall a stream even close by where people can just go and hang out nearby. Besides, Beach Drive ends further up from that area so the info is a little but skewed, I think.
24th Street is actually the road that comes down from Calvert (amazing the things you find on Google Maps). That's right where Rock Creek Parkway turns into Beach Drive.
And yes, there is a stream there. It's called Rock Creek, I believe. Maybe also some tributaries?
from wapo: Lt. Michael Libby of the U.S. Park Police said a jogger running along a path about 11 a.m. saw something floating in the water, just south of Beach Drive and north of Massachusetts Ave NW. Libby described that section of the park as "wooded."

Yeah that's RC Pway not Beach Drive...Woodley Park, definitely a stream there.
Question-If they determine that this person has been lying around there since last December, do they revise last year's homicide reports or does it get counted to this year?
Oh, and since he was already dead, did the police fill out a report?
Do they possibly mean Military Rd?
How sad. I feel for his family.
No word yet from police on the cause or nature of this death.
The bees got him.
I do believe this is the Woodley Park/Van Ness area.
As a runner, I am always afraid I will be the one to come across a body!
Don't forget the swarm of bees!
Better than actually being the body...
Very true, very true. It's a good thing I have super sweet karate moves.
I ran up on it just after they found him. It was maybe 5-10 minute jog SW after 24th street in the goes down to meet up with Rock Creek Pkwy just after one of the little foot bridges that take you nearer to the street. The creek was to the right of the main running trail at the point where the body was, but there is also the dirt trail on the other side of the creek.
I'm confused by your description. Entering RCP at 24th St., you jog down the path on a steep hill maybe 1 minute to the first footbridge over the creek. Then there is another footbridge about 7-10 min further down the trail taking you back over the creek (near the cemetery). But this 2nd foot bridge is south of Mass, and the article says the body was found just north of Mass.
This is why I never exercise. Too dangerous.
I was jogging by when the police were arriving. They first looked in the wring place, at the dog beach. The guy who found the body flagged him down north of there, quite near the bridge to the hill with the exercise course near the hotel.
A few days ago I found it odd when a white guy with shaggy blonde hair came up from the creek there with an empty baby stroller. He looked otherwise sane. It was weird.
Anyway, hope that clarifies the locale.
I wish I could edit my comment. I'll append that it was sent from my iPhone. Sorry for the typos. I couldn't see what I'd typed before posting.
