The bees of Rock Creek Park are officially out to get us. At around 3:15 p.m., D.C. Fire/EMS responded to a call of multiple bee stings in the area near the horse stables inside the park, at 5000 Glover Rd. NW. Spokesperson Pete Piringer says that seven children and one adult suffered multiple stings, but none of them appeared to be in serious condition and no one needed to be taken to the hospital. This is now the third reported bee attack in the same area over the last week, after two incidents occurred last Thursday.
You've gotta appreciate the DC Fire/EMS Twitter feed's sense of humor about the ongoing Bee Menace. To wit: "US Park Police APB - gang of bees - wearing yellow jacket last seen along path near horse stables - wanted for assault - armed and dangerous."

Aagh. As previously mentioned, these attackers are almost certainly YELLOWJACKETS, NOT BEES. Here's the difference: Bees pollinate your garden, which makes them extremely useful, and they are almost always nice and chilled out. (You can pretty much stand right in front of a honeybee hive and they'll just fly around you and go home.) Yellowjackets also pollinate your garden but sting like bitches -- especially when kids step on their nests.
I have a friend who (despite the benefit to HER garden) is on a crusade against her beekeeping neighbors, because she thinks honeybees = yellowjackets. So this isn't just semantics. Stop anti-bee prejudice!
Poltical Correctness Police Alert: That is a picture of a yellow jacket, not a bee, you have offended bees everywhere for this mischaracterization
Why isn't anyone taking these attacks seriously ?
Well, time to start setting up check points.
Now, before we start going off half-cocked, I'd like to suggest we offer to sacrifice Jim Graham to their god. Then we can go off full cocked...IN MY PANTS.
Hey Summer, Park Police are morons. They make MPD officers look like FBI agents. I'm not surprised they don't know the difference between a bee and a yellow jacket and posted a "funny" tweet about a bunch of people who got hurt. Thanks for exposing their idiocy. However, DCist would look a little better if they pointed out the difference between a bee and a wasp.
Does this mean the city goes to a Code Yellow Threat Alert?
With the beginning of summer comes the blooming of trees, gardens and flowers, which in turn attracts bees and wasps of all kinds. But that is not the end of the worry of a sting. Many stings take place during the fall months. Reason being, bees and wasps are cold blooded insects and they linger around people in order to absorb the body heat of humans, therefore increasing the chances of getting stung.
Last week, I witnessed a 4 year old girl with her hand and forearm swollen to her elbow, from a wasp sting that she received to her fingertip the day before. The sight of her hand and arm brought tears to my eyes because I knew that if she had had Baker's Venom Cleanser Bee Sting Cure
href="http://www.BeeStingCure.com/order">www.BeeStingCure.com available when see was stung, none of her discomfort would have elevated to that extreme point of swelling and discomfort.
Our web site has under gone some new additions worth taking a look at. 1988 investigative news video footage by George Ciccarone of Cincinnati's WKRC-TV interviews founder Ray Baker, a pharmacist and others about the effectiveness of Baker's Venom Cleanser on stings in people as the stings occur. This is a must see amazing video about how to cure bee stings with Baker's Venom Cleanser. www.YouTube.com/BeeStingCure the link is also available at our web site.
my friend and i were taking our dogs for a walk in rock creek last night and were attacked as well. luckily i had been reading the posts and knew what was going on so we ran away pretty fast. we didn't escape unharmed though. we each have almost 10 stings and my right forearm is about the same size as my calf. whatever they are, i hope they go away soon!
