The dog days are officially upon us, so we decided the most logical thing to do is sick a wolf on 'em. Le Loup rocketed out of nowhere onto the local music scene in late 2007, with a Hardly Art record deal and international tours before we could even learn the names of all seven people in their lineup. The first album was recorded before Sam Simkoff had cohorts, and while it was by far one of our favorite musical happenings of 2008, we wondered what they could do recording as a full band. Well, wonder no longer. In preparation for the release of their second album, Family (due out September 22), Le Loup has kindly shared the first single, "Beach Town," free of charge. The band's undergone some lineup changes, but that lush, layered sound we came to love last year is still intact. Give it a listen yourself, and let us know what you think.
Le Loup, "Beach Town"

LeLoup Rocks! Just what the DC indie rock scene needs. Less shoe gazing, more creativity, and more rockin!
Maybe I'm missing something, but can someone tell me why this band is good? I can't stand Le Loup. I find the lead singer's voice to be extremely annoying and not very strong, and their whole vibe seems like every other wannabe Death Cab for Cutie band I've heard.
LeLoup? What? Isn't this the group that did that house tune "People Are Still Having Sex" about 20 years ago?

Ah, apologies. That was LaTour. Showing my age again.
Carry on, gentlemen. As you were.
Hopefully they'll cover it at their next show. Because surprisingly, even now, people are still having sex. Not just with other living people, either!
I would be most impressed with Le Loup if they would record a follow-up to that song, entitled "People Are Still Having Sex With Dead Bodies."
i like how this song builds. that bass line really makes it. i wish the vocals were less submerged, but i'll probably get used to it. P.s. mlwdc, Le Loup sounds more like LaTour than Death Cab...
nice. i always thought it was a mistake for le loup to release simkoff's recordings as their "first album" because it did not sound much at all like them performing as a group. this is promising.
