Photo of the Day: August 21, 2009

Portrait of man

We're drawn to this dark and moody portrait by AleLa0201. Red is throwing off a strong carnie vibe thanks to the angle of the shot and the lighting and vignetting from the Holga.

Man, between this and the scary mask guy with the kid, it's pervert week at DCist! Which begs the question...where's the foot shot?

"Hey, kid! C'mere! You wanna earn $5...the hard way?"

My thought exactly. I'm ready for the next photo of the day: Shot looking into a van w/curtains, back doors open and a man wearing dickies and a clown mask holding a plastic pumpkin full of candy waving us all in.

My money's on an interior shot from the bottom of a car trunk looking up at three guys in black suits and ties. One guy has a can of gasoline and a straightrazor.

That, or the old looking-up-from-the-bottom-of-a-well-at-a-blond-guy-with-a-poodle shot.

that guy (?) is a total hipster.

Not only that, but if you ever meet this guy, no matter what he says, under no circumstances should you pull his finger. It would be...bad.

that's because hipsters have bad diets consisting of Wonderland burgers and PBR, a lethal combination for one's fart factory.

Too old to be a hipster. Try group home inhabitant.

No way. Lack of sleeve tattoos means he's probably a real carny.

Real carnies don't smoke. Scares the families away. Real carnies dip snuff, usually Skoal or Kodiak. Days O' Work if they're on the hard stuff.

He's a very handsome man. Passionate, intense, but troubled, strange. I think he may be in love with me. Of course, there's nothing abnormal about that. I have many suitors.

Get back in the bumpercar, Liz.

But does the carpet match the drapes?

Yes. And both are covered with dried blood and burn marks.

This is photographic evidence supporting Jack Donaghy's greatest piece of advice:

Never follow a hippie to a second location.

His second greatest piece of advice being:

Never give a breaker an even suck.

how did you travel back to 1970 and get a pic of my dad?!?!

The monkey picked it up on his way to kill Hitler.

The funk of unwashed ginger. Enough to turn me straight.

Please take my photo off your website.

You guys should've known that carnies don't like to have their photos taken. What surprises me is finding out that carnies know how to use the internet.

Seriously, guys. Carnies aren't supposed to have their picture taken. The bearded lady has been all over my ass all weekend about this photo showing up on DCist.
