Prince Paul will be at DC9 on Saturday for a special edition of "Moneytown."
Tuesday:

>> It's hard to believe that De La Soul put out 3 Feet High and Rising 20 years ago. Even more amazing is that they've stayed together for 20 years. With the help of the Rhythm Roots Allstars, they'll be at the 9:30 Club with opening act Kenan Bell. $25, 7 p.m.

Wednesday:
>> In short, he's a legend. Smokey Robinson will be at Wolf Trap's Filene Center. $25-$45, 8 p.m.

Thursday:
>> Singer Russell Taylor has been touring hard for his forthecoming release, Confessional. He'll make a stop at The Scene with opening act Deborah Bond. $15 in advance/$20 at the door, 7 p.m.

Saturday:
>> Granted neither is currently configured in their original lineups, but the Temptations and Four Tops still manage to carry on with their classic Motown tunes. Both will be performing at Wolf Trap's Filene Center. $22-$38, 8 p.m.

>> This month will feature a special edition of the "Moneytown" party. DJ Nitekrawler will be hosting frequent De La Soul collaborator Prince Paul (pictured), for a special DJ set. Both will be at DC9. $10, 9 p.m.

Sunday:
>> There's a great deal of buzz around Irish singer/pianist Laura Izibor, who's drawn comparisons to Alicia Keys. She'll be at the Birchmere. $25, 7:30 p.m.

Monday:
>> Since getting her break as a background singer with Erykah Badu, Dallas native N'dambi has been a star on the indie soul scene. She'll be taking part in the latest edition of "In the Artist's Studio" at Busboys & Poets 14th Street NW location. $10 in advacnce, 9 p.m.

Why are Smokey Robinson, Laura Izibor, Russel Taylor, and N'dambi included in "This Week in Hip-hop?" Does DCist think that all black artists are hip-hop artists? Or that R&B is just another name for hip-hop?
