Ongoing track circuit repairs on the Red Line and scheduled maintenance on the Blue, Orange and Yellow Lines this weekend will lead to delays across the Metrorail system. Here's the details:

Red Line: Once again this weekend, there will be no Red Line trains serving the Fort Totten station. Post-Red Line Crash track circuit repairs will force Red Line trains to operate only between Shady Grove and Brookland-CUA and between Glenmont and Takoma from 9:30 p.m. Friday, August 21, to closing (midnight) on Sunday, August 23. Free shuttle buses will take Red Line riders between Brookland-CUA, Fort Totten and Takoma, and non-stop shuttle buses will also run from Takoma to Union Station on Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Blue and Orange Lines: Bridge maintenance on the aerial structure outside the Stadium-Armory station will lead to 30 minute delays between Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory. Trains will single-track between the two stations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Saturday, August 22, and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 23.

Blue and Yellow Lines: Big nighttime delays begin Sunday as Metro begins prep work for a major track rehabilitation project at the Pentagon City station. Blue and Yellow line riders should build 45 additional minutes to their travel times between 9:30 p.m. to closing (midnight) starting on Sunday, August 23, and lasting through Thursday, August 27.

Yellow Line trains will operate only once every 36 minutes between Fort Totten and Huntington during this time, and will share one track between Braddock Road and L’Enfant Plaza.

Blue Line trains will operate in two segments, between Largo Town Center and Rosslyn every 20 minutes, and between Franconia-Springfield and King Street. There will be no Blue Line service between Rosslyn and King Street. A special Blue Line shuttle train will operate between Franconia-Springfield and King Street to connect riders to the Yellow Line. Free shuttle bus service will also be available between Rosslyn and Pentagon.

Getting a lot of use out this picture aren't you?

Also why don't they just put up on the PIDs: "Expect Metro being Metro".

Yeah, weekend Metro maintenance delays aren't news anymore. Now, uninterrupted weekend service would be news. But this is like warning, "Bars This Weekend Expected to be Filled With Drunk People. Drinkers are advised to use alternate methods of getting stinko. The Institute of Irresponsible Behavior suggests doing shots of Everclear and curling up in a fetal tuck in your basement. As always, drinking out of a bag in a gutter and screaming at passers-by is encouraged."
