MOVIE: The Avalon Theatre is showing Elementary School (Obecna Skola), a cinematographic childhood memory of Czech screenwriter Zdenek Sverak, directed by his son Jan Sverak. The film is set in a Prague suburb shortly after World War II, and tells the story of a young school boy named Eda and his relationship with the two authority figures in his life—his father and his teacher Hnizdo, a new and admired figure in Eda’s school and town, $10.50, 8 p.m.
