Arrest Made in Shaw Sexual Assault

D.C. Police announced Thursday that they have made an arrest in the April 6 sexual assault of a female victim inside her home in the 1500 block of Marion Street NW. Police say physical evidence linked a suspect to the attack, and 25-year-old George Leroy Clowers of no fixed address has since been arrested and charged with first degree sexual abuse and burglary one. The crime was the sort that gives city-dwelling women everywhere nightmares: at around 3 a.m., the suspect broke into the victim's house in the Shaw neighborhood, sexually assaulted her and then stole some of her stuff before fleeing.

This is PC-speak for GODDAMNED F**KING HOBOS! I'm sick and tired of putting up with these "sons of the road" and their five o'clock shadows and their bindle-on-a-stick and their f**king clown shoes. Little Tramp my ass. You better believe there's gonna be an old timey hobo chokin' in the hobo jungles tonight!

I'm all for cutting off the penises of rapists and making the sickos watch as we throw them into the wild so grizzlies, cougars, and any other wild animal with a dick and claws can tear their junk to shreds. We could film it and use it as a deterrent for other rapists.

Why does the media keep using "sexual assault" I thought the MPD called it "sexual abuse," which, depending on the degree, can cover everything from an unwanted slap on the ass to rape.

Oh, just saw that he was charged with 1st degree SA. Scary.

Yes. This one was particularly horrific.

I agree w/mNomeNa above, with the amendment that the dismembered member not be fed to wild animals, but rather used to asphyxiate the person it formerly was attached to.

Mainly because I don't think the federal goverment should be involved in a feeding program that discriminates between "wild animal(s) with a dick and claws", and those wild animals unfortunate enough to e born without dicks.

Even better, women should consider taking steps to protect themselves in their own home.

While it isn't a good idea to leave your doors unlocked, that doesn't make it okay to break into someone's home and assault them. Way to blame the victim.

I don't think he was. If I had to guess, he was trying to make a subtle statement in support of keeping a gun under the pillow.

Thanks. You got it. I was not blaming the victim, just reminding women that they have a number of home security options available to them. Still too subtle? Okay. Buy a gun. (but don't keep it under your pillow).

Well, yeah, overenthusiastic about firearms in the city as you are, it's clear you mean no harm. :)
The assault took place while she was asleep. Under the pillow would have been about the only place a gun might have done her any good. Assuming he didn't find it first, and take it along with the other things he did.
An alarm, or even a dog, would arguably have been more effective than a gun.

Under the pillow is a sure way to kill yourself, someone else, or at least piss off the neighbors. Of course, we don't know what happened. Was she woken up by the person entering the house? I dunno. Maybe she was a heave sleeper.

Revolver in lock box bolted to bed/nightstand, closet whatever. Its not an either or situation. Dogs can be impractical, and I've never met anyone with an alarm system who says that they turn it on and off every night. The gun is just one last resort option-AFTER you've made sure your doors are locked.

Perhaps he just wanted to cuddle?

My suggestion would be throw him into a cage match with several fully-functional male gorillas. Talk about your educational videos!

You people are aware that you don't need a penis in order to rape someone, right? Full or even chemical castration only has a 90% effective rate in reducing deviant sexual urges among convicted rapists.

So, by all means, cut them off and flush them down the toilet. Just don't be suprised when you find one-in-ten rapists back at it with a blunt instrument or a toy baseball bat.

True, rape is an act of power, not one of sex. Still, there's something about ripping off the appendage he used to rape her that seems like justice. Then again, even if the bastard is imprisoned there never really is any justice; he degraded and humiliated a woman for the simple fact that he could. It just doesn't seem fair. In my eyes, there is no punishment that could ever equate or even come close to what he did to her.

In the 1960s, one of the interrogation techniques that CIA operatives used on captured South American guerrillas was rape with trained German shepherds.

Just sayin.

Known as the Chihuahua Che technique.

Glad to hear they made an arrest, and took this criminal off the streets. I agree with mNomeNa on additional punishment I'd like to see for rapists.

Sexual Abuse as defined by the District of Columbia Code. The only reference to sexual assault I could find was "Assault with intent to kill, rob, or poison, or to commit first degree sexual abuse, second degree sexual abuse or child sexual abuse". Apparently in DC the term used is sexual assault?

Yep, the term used (and charged on paperwork) is Sexual Abuse. 1st & 2nd degree have to do with sexual acts (i.e. penetration, oral, or digital penetration), 3rd and 4th degree involve contacts (i.e. touching). Misdemeanor sex abuse covers things like copping a feel on the metro, trying to reach up someone's skirt, etc.

The funny thing is that for YEARS there have been many that have said that there was a problem in the alley that runs behind the western side of the 1500 block of Marion and the MPD/local leaders did NOTHING to curb the loitering in and around this alley. One entire half of the alley is dominated by commercial buildings and the other half residential...it has been a HAVEN for drug use, prostitution and other illegal activities. It is sad to say that yet another crime has happened and one has to wonder if the MPD had the tools to disperse the crowds that hang on this block 24 hours a day if this would have happened.

What? Surely you don't mean the alley behind political-heavyweight Bread for the City?

i'd put the blame on that laundromat more than bread for the city...
