Given the crime he stands accused of, this doesn't come as a big surprise: the AP is reporting that accused U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum shooter James von Brunn has been ordered held without bail today in federal court. This is the first time von Brunn has been able to appear in court in person, as he was still recovering from the gunshot wounds he received from one of the museum guards on June 10. The alleged gunman reportedly decided to say a few words at the short arraignment hearing. Among them: "I'm a United States citizen, and as a U.S. naval officer I swore to protect my country. I take my vows very seriously." James von Brunn has been charged with first-degree murder and related hate crime and gun violations in the death of security guard Stephen T. Johns.

Don't die yet, Mr Von Brunn. Federal Prison has some wonderful amenities such as shower room "playtime" and they make it extra special for white supremacists.
And this isn't playtime with Teh Gayz, it's playtime with sexually frustrated straight dudes, which is ten times teh fun! Come to think of it, Bishop Jackson might come to yearn for Teh Gayz after he lands in with the same clientele.
The use of prison rape as an "extra" punishment for offenders is cruel and inhumane. Even in this guy's case. I'd be relatively comfortable with executing him -- even despite the recent case of Cameron Willingham, who was executed by Texas for murder and arson despite being demonstrably innocent -- but gleefully imagining this guy being the subject of violent rape is too much.
Could they bring back the gas chamber for him? It would seem appropriate.
They should just put him back in the Ark of the Covenant for another hour or so. He doesn't look done yet.
It definitely amuses me how many people imagine themselves as modern day ideological descendants of the (fictional) characters in The Patriot...as if all those men were motivated by patriotic zeal. Also, I find it curious that naval officers swear to an oath that includes random acts of vigilantism - anyone care to follow up with the Navy on this one?
random acts of vigilantism random acts of violent bigotry...although, in the context that I meant here, he probably sees it as patriotic vigilantism
what happened to my "strike" html tags for this comment? they worked in the preview...hmmm :|
Sheesh. He just has the stupidest face I've ever seen. Looking at him makes you want to punch him in the nose.
Try three feet lower.
I'd like to see him six feet under.
Didn't I see him hollering about guns, taxes and abortion at a health care town hall with his clones?
