A Prince George's County police officer shot and seriously wounded a man in Southeast D.C. today after following the man into the District, the Post is reporting. The victim, who has not been identified, was a suspect in the killing of two people in Anne Arundel County earlier this morning, according to police. The police-involved shooting took place at Minnesota Avenue and Ridge Road SE.
So if this man was shot in D.C. and wanted by Anne Arundel County authorities, how did the P.G. County police end up involved at all? Anne Arundel officials asked the P.G. cops to help them look into information they had that the suspect lived at a particular address in Upper Marlboro. When the P.G. officers arrived at the address, the man allegedly fled the scene, leading to a car chase along Route 202. According to the P.G. County police, the suspect eventually ditched the car once he reached D.C., fleeing on foot, armed with a gun. At some point after that, one of the pursuing officers fired at the suspect.
WUSA9 is reporting that the suspect was wanted for killing his wife and her sister in Anne Arundel County this morning.
UPDATE: DDOT is warning drivers that due to the ongoing investigation into this shooting, the following roads are closed and may continue to be closed through rush hour: Minnesota Avenue between Benning Road NE and B Street SE and Riggs Road between Minnesota Avenue SE and Anacostia Avenue SE. Traffic is being rerouted to Pennsylvania Avenue and Benning Road.

I do hope the officer dragged the man back to PG County as to not upset the Chief's goals for the number of murders in the district.
Well, the guy's still alive as of this writing, so there's that.

There's a fine line between PG County and Southeast. And then sometimes there's none at all.

I thought that PG Officers usually killed their suspects once they took them to jail?

I swear, you guys should just let Maryland cops shoot people everywhere in D.C. It just gets so darned confusing. It's not like inside D.C. where, ahem, the lines are so much more clearly delineated.
