Just because they're black doesn't make it hip-hop. Suprised at the ignorance.

I'm referring of course to Living Color.

zack, I came in to make the same comment. What's hip-hop about Living Colour?

Vernon Reid spent a lot of time working with The Roots as a guitarist.

But this post about more than hip-hop music. Not to get into a thesis about it (I did that when the post launched back in the day), but hip-hop is larger than just a rapper on a stage, and I try to get at this point with the shows I include. Plus, if rapper on stage was my sole focus, I'd have fewer events to include and some good events wouldn't get highlighted.

So, I agree Living Colour is seemingly a stretch but I think it's a logical one.

Thanks for reading the post. At least I now know it's getting people's attention.

Also, Will Calhoun and Doug Wimbush played on Mos Def's album "The New Danger" so most of the band has some sort of connection to hip-hop.

Now get off WJM's tip!!!

Living Color is not a hip hop band. They play rock. The Roots play hip hop. Ice T fronted Body Count...does that make Body Count hip hop? If Vernon Reid (who I respect tremendously as a musician and fellow Black Rock Coalition rep) plays a Living Color show, he's playing rock.
My main problem was the juxtaposition of the header "This week in Hip Hop" and Living Color. Get it? Now get off mine.

and not even a rock tag, tsk tsk

Kev brown is on thursday at asylum. Not wednesday.

Thanks for noticing the error. It's been corrected.
