Thursday:
>> Singer Amel Larrieux first came to public notice in the early 1990s with her group, Groove Theory. Since then, she's had a successful solo career. Larrieux and opening act, V. Rich, will spend two nights in a row at the Birchmere. $45, 7:30 p.m.

Friday:
>> Miz Metro has been making a name for herself in NYC for her unique style and musical sensibilities. She'll be making her D.C. area debut at Winston Billiards and Bar in Rockville with Legs Diamond, Crosmopolitan and Vinyl Ritchie. $5 in advance/$10 at the door, 8 p.m.

>> L.A. emcee MURS (pictured) work with producer 9th Wonder put him on a lot of folks radar but his lyrics, wit and Current TV gig have kept him in their sights. He'll be at the Rock and Roll Hotel. $15 in advance/$18 at the door, 9 p.m.

Saturday:
>> Today marks the debut of "Can't Stop won't Stop," a photo display by some of the area's up and coming picture takers who focus on hip-hop in its various forms. The display will be at Dahlak (1771 U Street NW). Free, 5 p.m.

>> Actor/Comedian/Vocalist Jamie Foxx will be at the Merriweather Post Pavilion. $42.75-$89.75, 5:30 p.m.

>> A frequent visitor to D.C., Atlanta-based singer Anthony David will be at Liv. $15 in advance/$18 at the door, 7:30 p.m.

>> The Soul Controller's DJ Jahsonic will be on the Eighteenth Street Lounge's turntables for the night. $TBA, 10 p.m.

VRich puts on a good show. I saw him last year with Amel - it's real music. He sounds a lot like Maxwell so if you're into R&B, I would check it out.

I'm gonna to dive in to that MURS show like it's a plate of nachos. Haters, as always, can suck it.
