>> In the mid 1990s, Joe Breidenstine set up shop in New York after spending several years performing in Japan. He has since performed with greats such as Tito Puente and Lou Rawls. >> Renowned blues pianist/vocalist Mose Allison once again makes a stop this weekend from Thursday through Sunday at Blues Alley. Tickets to the nightly 8 and 10 p.m. sets are $25 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.

>> Guitarist Phil Mathieu is a skilled musician who plays in a variety of settings, ranging from classical solo and chamber recitals to jazz. He will be featured this Friday at Jazz in the Garden. 5 to 8:30 p.m. Free

>> Pianist/organist Greg Lamont is a long time veteran of the local scene. He will lead his trio this Friday at Jazz Night in Southwest. Special guests for the evening will include saxophonist Marshall Keys and vocalist Queen Aisha. 6 to 9 p.m. $5

>> Katy Roberts received her training in jazz piano and composition from Berklee and the New England Conservatory in the 70s and 80s. In 1990, she moved to France, and has established herself with steady gigs in Paris and around Europe. She still returns to the States from time to time, and will be playing this Friday and Saturday at Twins Jazz, where she recorded a live album in 2006. Tickets to the 9 and 11 p.m. sets are $15.

>> HR-57 will host regular performer Antonio Parker this Friday and Saturday. 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. $12

>> Pianist Yelena Koshelevskaya, who goes by the stage name of Sabine, is a native of Moscow who came to the United States to study jazz. She has been playing locally for the past few years, accompanying some of the area's best. Sabine will play Twins Jazz on Sunday with a group that includes flautist Arch Thompson and bassist Oliver Albertini. Call 202-234-0072 for set time and cover information.

>> If you're not too worn out from travel over the long weekend, head down to Blue Monday Blues to check out the "Princess of the Blues," Ruby Hayes. The earthy singer will be playing from 6 to 9 p.m. $5

>> Pianist Amina Figarova began her studies in classical music as a young girl in her native Azerbaijan, and went on to study jazz at Boston's Berklee College of Music. Now based in Rotterdam, Netherlands, Figarova is one of the busiest players on the European jazz circuit. She will be playing Blues Alley on Tuesday, leading a sextet that includes her husband, flautist Bart Platteau. Tickets to the 8 and 10 p.m. sets are $25 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.
