>> Three Stars alums The Oscillators is playing at The Rookery in Foggy Bottom, to kick off what will hopefully be a weekly jazz night. 7 to 10 p.m. No cover

>> Saxophonist Aaron Irwin has spent the past several years establishing himself in New York, releasing two albums in the process. He'll be pay a visit to Twins Jazz on Thursday, leading a group that will feature Dave McDonald, drummer for the Air Force's Airmen of Note. Call 202-234-0072 for set time and cover information.

>> Unbuckled alum Matt Grason leads his live house band, House of Soul, this Friday at the Bossa Bistro & Lounge. The group features Three Stars alums Matt Rippetoe and Charles Ostle. 10 p.m. $5

>> Twins Jazz hosts an all star lineup of area musicians this Friday and Saturday. Drummer Nasar Abadey will lead a group featuring saxophonist Gary Thomas, Director of Jazz Studies at the Peabody Conservatory, and local mainstay James King on bass. Tickets to the 9 and 11 p.m. sets are $15.

>> Bohemian Caverns features an all local lineup this weekend. On Friday, DeAndre Shaifer will be leading a group, while Three Stars alum Reginald Cyntje will play the club on Saturday. 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets. $15

>> Flautist Arch Thompson leads the Sabroso Latin Jazz Ensemble at Twins Jazz on Sunday. The band's specialty is infusing jazz classics with a Latin flavor. Call 202-234-0072 for set time and cover information.

>> Known for her crystalline tone and willingness to incorporate global influences into her music, vocalist Tessa Souter has garnered rave reviews in her decade as a professional artist. She will be playing 8 and 10 p.m. sets on Monday at Blues Alley. Tickets are $20+12.50 minimum/surcharge.

>> Next Tuesday marks the start of the annual Sonic Circuits Festival of Experimental Music, which will run from Sept. 22 to Sept. 27. Venues range from small clubs like Velvet Lounge to the University of Maryland's Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. The Center's Kogod Theater will host the Festival's opening concert next Tuesday. 7 p.m. Free

>> Italian saxophonist Emanuele Cisi has recorded 8 albums as a leader and over 50 as a sideman over in Europe. He has spent the past several months in the District, soaking up the local scene.
