Water Main Break Closes 16th Street NW Between V and Euclid

The District Department of Transportation reports that as of about 11:45 a.m., a water main break has forced 16th Street NW to close in both directions between V Street and Euclid Street. The main break occurred in the 2400 block of 16th Street NW.

DDOT says northbound traffic is being diverted to 15th Street. North and southbound drivers are encouraged to use 14th Street or 18th Street until the incident is cleared up.

UPDATE 2:05 p.m. DDOT now reports that 16th Street has 2 lanes open going northbound, and 1 lane open going southbound.

Does anything good ever happen on Euclid? Apparently not.

AGAIN?! I live on this block and can say this is THIRD time this has happened within the last year. You could see water seeping from two different areas about 3 days ago. Why does WASA seem to only respond once it ruptures on a grand scale? I'm confused.

first water main break of the season, right? these are going to be more and more common until the city figures out a way to replace all the rusted pipes...

OK, making the list for the CVS stop on the way home...baby wipes, bottled water, rubber boots.
