About Tonight

MOVIE: And don't forget the Reel Affirmations Film Festival is still going strong. Consider the "Best of the Fest" shorts collection, tonight at 7 p.m. at Sidney Harman Hall.

The AFI Silver is showing Second Skin, a documentary about the online world of guilds (think World of Warcraft, Second Life and Everquest), exposing the real people who populate these virtual spaces, whether they be multimillionaires, bored teenage kids in a far off land, or lonely housewives. 7 p.m. (Ed note: our mistake; Second Skin's screening is tomorrow night, 10/20.)

MUSIC: If you can make it out to Vienna, singer-songwriter Erin McKeown is a gem not to be missed. She'll be playing at Jammin’ Java with Jill Sobule (remember her?). 8 p.m., $15.

Or for something a little more transit accessible, you can't go wrong with rocking out to True Womanhood at the Black Cat's backstage. With Grooms, $10, 9 p.m.

READING: Tonight the 5th Street Busboys and Poets hosts Progressivism on Tap at 6 p.m., featuring Brookings fellow William Galston as he discusses the role of philosophy in shaping public policy and politics in the White House.

Or for something a little less heady, the one and only Sartorialist, aka fashion blogger Scott Schuman, is heading to brand new 14th Street restaurant Masa 14 tonight for a book signing from 9-10 p.m. The book itself, a snazzy collection of Schuman's man-on-street fashion photography, seems sure to be a must-have for fashion (and photography) lovers this holiday season.

I believe that Second Skin isn't showing til tomorrow evening....

I was just about to say this - I started making plans, but both the AFI website and the second skin website say its tomorrow.

My mistake, thanks for noticing Bloominpale.

No probs. Looks like a good flick, I'll check it out tomorrow.

Only if Jill Sobule is kissing girls will I be attending her show.
