Congrats DCist, you beat DC Fire & EMS, WUSA-9 and ABC-7 by getting the address correct. According to everyone else, it was either at 1300 I St SW or 1300 1st St NW

bravo, sommer. you didn't place the killing in the middle of the washington channel like other news outlets did.

That is a scary neighborhood

How many crimes have we seen where the perp description includes "wearing a [insert color here] hoodie"? Since this article of clothing seems to go hand in hand with local thuggery, I think it's high time we instituted strict guidelines on hoodie ownership to go along with those draconian gun regulations. Makes as much sense, anyhow.

Don't you have a militia to regulate rather than make illogical comparisons between articles of clothing and weapons?

When hoodies are outlawed, only outlaws will have hoodies, which will certainly make the cop's job easier. All that sitting around eating sunflower seeds and trying to convince mugging victims not to file charges wears a guy out. Between that and lying down with a blanket, a juice box, and watching Romper Room, their schedule is packed enough as it is. They barely have enough time to shakedown hookers, let alone put on a deerstalker cap and break out the magnifying glass to go looking for double amputees in wheelchairs with doublebarrel shotguns.

They've done it in the UK.

I wonder how that is working out for them.

In DC they should ban having your boxers show above your belt. Not only will it reduce crime, but it also just makes good fashion sense.

Damn right, NewHCE! If I have to throw one more "fashion flag" at some small-time local mugger, I'm going to be compelled to write an indignant letter to a certain oil-soaked, hooker-strangling city executive. Those sloppy punks make double amputee, shotgun-toting thugs in wheelchairs look like Savile Row swinging dicks.

@Chrisafer--The only militia I'd like to regulate is the one in my condo. Sadly, the DC City Council thinks it's OK to erect unreasonable barriers limiting citizens' ability to exercise their Second Amendment rights. And any illogical comparisons I made were predated--and done better--by the aforementioned City Council who, in their wisdom, think that a gun ban is the answer to crime reduction. To my mind, that's no sillier than saying that getting rid of ski masks (or hoodies) is the answer to eliminating late-night stick ups. And I'll defer to more knowledgeable and stat-savvy DCist-ites (ers?): How'd that gun ban work out for our town in terms of getting rid of gun-enhanced crimes??
