D.C. Police Double Reward for Edgewood Terrace Shooting

2009_1029_mpd.jpg D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier and Mayor Adrian Fenty announced Wednesday that they have doubled the reward money, to $50,000, for anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the two gunmen who shot and killed 17-year-old Kenyetta Nicholson-Stanley on Oct. 8. Nicholson-Stanley was shot while standing in a playground in the 500 block of Edgewood Street NE, and was merely a bystander. The suspects are believed to have been targeting a security guard who worked in the Edgewood Terrace apartments.

"The shooting occurred in a heavily populated neighborhood and we know many people saw or heard something that night. Help us bring Kenyetta’s killer to justice," Lanier said in a statement.

At least one tipster has already come forward once, according to the Post, and police hope the increase in reward will encourage that same person to get back in touch to provide more details.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or 1-888-919-CRIME. Anonymous information may also be submitted to 1-866-411-TIPS or to the department’s text tip line by text messaging 50411.

i sure hope that tip leads to an arrest and conviction!

Do they ever? If the past is any indication, the perp will eventually get shot, if he isn't already behind bars serving time for another violation.

yeah, but i'm trying to be optimistic

i'm feeling contradictory today, i guess.

hey bub, you don't get to police my comments!
