What does BGR stand for? Though it could easily be booger, in this case it's burger, which is what you'll get for free if you go to a local BGR The Burger Joint today with the letters "inked" on any body part. And yes, they can just be written on your hand with a ballpoint pen.
Today from 11 a.m. to noon, walk in with your BGR "tattoo" and you will receive a free burger or veggie burger. If it's not too crowded, be sure to try out their hand cut fries. Locations include the new restaurant at Dupont Circle, plus Alexandria and Bethesda.

what are the numbers who will turn out for this? 500? it's going to be a massive clusterf--k.
I had never heard of this place, and what is doubly surprising that they have a location on CT Ave. just north of Dupont? I must be on autopilot - hadn't seen that. I will definitely have to check it out - if the pictures on their website are any indication, they come much closer to making what a real hamburger should look like than some of these other local places. And gasp, could I get it some other way other than well done???
They do make good burger but prices are just expensive. Thus if you can't make it in today for the free food, I suggest going for the lunch special: burger, fries, and drink for around 10 bucks.
The food is good. I personally don't mind paying for good food. It takes a few minutes for them to cook your food which is really made to order so don't expect a quick dash in and out. Dedicate 15-20 minutes to waiting. The down side to the Bethesda location is that it is really loud inside and it is very hard to hold a conversation, read a book, think, etc. We sit outside to eat. I don't know about the other locations but am willing to give the Dupont location a try once the newness wears off and it is not horribly crowded.
Combine the average cook-to-order wait time and the hoards of cheap bastards, you're looking at serious lines. BGR does a good burger; not cheap, and better than Five Guys, but I'd pass on this little offer unless you enjoy sore feet with your lunch.
Thanks to all of you for the advice - the fact that it is cooked to order is worth the price of admission in and of itself. I will go when they aren't giving stuff away to the great unwashed.
feet!
Yeah, this is one of those places where just a hamburger, without any gourmet toppings, tastes really good in and of itself. Good onion rings too.
Very tasty burgers & fries.
I like the classic rock tunes piped through the place -- though I admit when they have VH1 Classic on the TV in Bethesda (on mute) it's rather unique to have, oh, Tom Petty in your ears while you're viewing some one hit wonder hair / metal band of the early 80's.
Half the fun is waiting for them both to match up!
When I went on Saturday, for some reason they had the Food Network on...
BGR sells beer. That's a +
Just go to the In-and-Out Burger is on Camrose. Those are good burger.
Shut the F!@k up Donny!
Just got back, Burger is incredible, and I was in and out in 20 minutes. Thanks for the head's up, DCist!
I went here the other day....and I'm sorry, but their burgers are too big and they suck. Five Guys is cheaper and better.
Burgers are like boobs, penii, and tax refunds. They can never be too big.
+1.
agreed, agreed.
Ha ha, you guys like giant penii
hey, who doesn't?
