A man was shot multiple times earlier today while attempting to board a Metrobus near 14th and H Streets NE. D.C. Police are currently investigating the shooting, which took place just before noon.
Police described the victim's injuries as serious, but declined to provide much more information while officers were still searching for suspects. The Post reports that the bus in question was a westbound X2, and that it's being held at the scene for further investigation, but other X2 buses are running normally.
UPDATE: WUSA9 is reporting that the victim has died.

Within 24 hours of running one of those "Will DC End the Year with Fewer Homicides?" articles, someone always dies violently. More blood on your hands, DCist.
There were a lot of shots. The bus driver must be in shock, and feeling very lucky to be alive.
This is at least the 3rd day time shooting at an H street area bus stop this year. All three have occurred within a block of this one. 2 people have died.
Post article says it's Deonte Rawlings' (kid who was shot stealing a Cop's minibike in '07) brother.
proving once again (very unfortunately) that almost all shootings in DC are targeted. random shootings are rare (though people do get killed, like the woman on 14th street a couple months ago, and the girl in edgewood)
What's so great about the X2 is that it enables people from different walks of life to come to what the Post and the NY Times call DC's "hottest neighborhood" to do stuff like:
- shoot their guns in the air outside of Twelve (gun allegedly shot in the air at a Gallaudet homecoming party last month) or the X2 (lady shot in retribution a few months ago, George Rawlings apparently shot for being a witness today)
- stab each other (like the two firefighters allegedly did at the H St. Martini Lounge last month)
- sing and play your guitar badly in front of the Popeye's
- play put-put (every day at the H Street Country Club)
- eat Belgian food that has been featured on the Food Network (every day Granville Moore's)
There is something for everyone, and the X2 will get you there.
It's too bad this area keeps coming up on the crime radar. From what I've seen, most of the people who actually seem to live near these parts of H Street don't seem to be the shooting or stabbing kind.
NEDC thanks for the laugh. I hopped on the H Street shuttle in front of Sticky Rice on Friday night, and that busker hopped on board and hijacked the bus for a couple of minutes- playing the exact same song he had been playing the entire 10 minutes I was waiting for the shuttle. The driver eventually had to say "ok, enough already- we have to go!"
