FOOD & DRINK: Happy Cinco de Mayo! H Street Country Club (1335 H St. NE) is celebrating with food and drink specials ($5 margaritas, $3 Dos Equis, and $2 tacos), adult piñatas (which sound slightly terrifying), and a chance to win 1 million ... pesos.
Asylum (2471 18th St. NW) joins the festivities with feats of overeating. For $5, enter their taco eating contest for the chance to win a $100 tab. There will be multiple rounds with prizes for the winners of each round. 7 p.m.
SPORTS: D.C. United is hosting its own Cinco de Mayo party tonight, starting at 5 p.m. in RFK's parking lot 8. Live mariachis will stroll the pre-game event, which will also feature a limbo contest, piñatas, and $5 margaritas. The game itself, vs. Kansas City Wizards, starts at 7 p.m. Ticket prices vary.
MOVIES: The 48 Hour Film Project challenges filmmakers (from amateurs to pro) to "write, shoot, edit and score" a film in 48 short hours. The results can be impressive. Tonight, at 7 p.m. or 9:30 p.m., catch a screening of some of this year's 48 Hour Films at the AFI Silver. $10.
HAPPY HOUR: The Rock and Roll Hotel launches a new Washington Writers’ Salon tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., which will continue the first Wednesday of every month. The evening is not meant for workshopping or reading one's writing, but rather is meant to be a time to socialize with like-minded people. Wednesday also happens to be half-price burger and $3 rail drink night. 6-8 p.m.
COMEDY: The Black Cat plays host to a crew of comedians tonight. Eugene Mirman (aka the landlord from Flight of the Conchords), Leo Allen, Kumail Nanjiani and Michael Showalter are all set to perform. Tickets are $15 at the door. 8 p.m.
Christian Finnegan, that guy from "Best Week Ever" on VH1, performs at DC Improv (1140 Connecticut Ave NW) tonight through Sunday. 8 p.m., $15.
MUSIC: OK Go has sold-out at the 9:30 Club You can try your luck finding tickets online, but you may just have to settle for their latest elaborate music video on YouTube. 7 p.m.
