Another Day, Another Photog Detained

Another story of photographer vs. law enforcement comes to us via WeLoveDC. The photographer, Jerome Vorus, recounts on his blog a run in with DCPD officers in Georgetown last weekend. Photos of a routine traffic stop turned into a confrontation over what constitutes public photography. "I was told by 4 officers that it is “illegal” to take pictures of people without prior consent on a public street, and unlawful to take pictures of the police with authorization from the DCPD PIO," said Vorus in his post. If this were the case, you could pretty much close your eyes, point to any tourist and call the cops on them. As of yet, no comment from the police department has been issued over the matter.
