Metro Riders At Bethesda Are Losing Their Minds
We know that a lot of you are fed up with Metro's escalator troubles. We understand that Interim General Manager Richard Sarles' assertion that major overhauls are on the way probably rings a little bit hollow. But that's really no reason to start climbing up the facing of the one of the longest escalators in the system. (Apologies for the Alex Proyas-level of darkness, but you know, YouTube and all.)
Yeah, that's just ridiculous. Please don't do this, people.
But that's not all!
Apparently the Bethesda station was also the site of a massive, Royal Rumble-style brawl between two large groups of young men last weekend which spilled over onto the tracks. Unsuck DC Metro prints an email from a witness that has the disturbing details: one man was kneed and "soccer kicked and stomped in the head," and then tried to stand up and fell onto the tracks as a train was just one minute away. After bystanders rushed to stop the oncoming train, the man was pulled out and then another three fights broke out. All told, it took Metro Transit Police about an hour to deal with the late-night incident.
Man, what's in the water up there?
