>> On Friday, Master Potter Kevin Crowe will answer your questions about wood-fired pottery at Foundry Gallery’s artist talk. >> Cool off at the Fridge on Tuesday, August 31 for the launch of the Beltway Poetry Slam. Poets will perform original work in three minutes or less, without the use of props (sorry, Carrot Top...). Art Notes:

  • Hillyer Art Space hosts the closing reception for Corwin Levi and Pam Roger’s artistic interpretations of nature. This is your last chance to trick your mouth with a Miracle Berry, unusual foods, and some alcohol, so get there early before they’re all gone. 6 to 8 p.m., free.
  • If reading aloud to total strangers the lame-ass poetry and deep thoughts your eighth-grade self poured into that diary you never threw away will make your life complete, Mortified DC wants to hear from you.
  • Don’t wait until the last minute to submit your entries for the 2010 Dupont Circle Fine Arts Show.
  • Graduate from Legos and bring the kids to the Art Museum of the Americas this Saturday. Team up with architecture students from Catholic University of America's School of Architecture and Planning for a fun-filled morning, making a scale model of a Washington landmark. Advanced registration is encouraged. Free.
  • Get down to DC Arts Center by Sunday to see the 2010 Wall Mountables exhibit before it closes until next summer.
