FRIDAY

FOOD & DRINK: D.C. Beer Week kicks off at Nerd Nite (beer edition) at the Rock & Roll Hotel (1353 H Street NE) tonight. Greg Engert, Beer Director at ChurchKey; Brian Strumke, Founder and Brewer at Stillwater Artisanal Ales; Chuck Cook, Belgian Beer Connoisseur; and Tracy Jill Doty of the NIH, will be on hand for the beer, knowledge, and music event. At 6:30 p.m., hear presentations on "The History, Artistry, and Science of Beer," and at 10, the New Rock Church of Fire performs. Each event is $10, or pay $16 for both.

DANCE: The Dance DC Festival begins tonight at the Atlas Performing Arts Center (1333 H Street NE). Come for the opening reception and an evening of Carnival Africana! performances. Events continue through Sunday. 6 p.m., free.

MOVIES: Of Fresh and Blood is the story of infamous porn star John Holmes. It was put together by film student and D.C. local Jeff Mentges in the early nineties, featured D.C. talent, and premiered at the Biograph Theater in Washington. It plays tonight only at the AFI Silver Theater (8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring). 9:30 p.m., $10.

>> The Wedding Singer is the 90s pick of the night at the Rosslyn Outdoor Film Festival at Gateway Park (base of Key Bridge, 1300 Lee Highway, Arlington). 8 p.m., free.

>> Watch Up at the Arlington County Fair's (3501 South Second Street, Arlington) Family Movie Night. Sundown, free.

MUSIC: Title Tracks plays Comet Ping Pong tonight, with The Paul Collins Beat, Mother's Children, and Black Telephone. 10:30 p.m., $10.

SATURDAY

MOVIES: See a film noir double feature from the 1940s with Secret Beyond the Door at 2 p.m., and Ruthless at 4 p.m., at the National Gallery of Art (3rd and 7th Streets at Constitution Avenue NW) in the auditorium of the East Building Concourse. Free.

>> Catch another double feature later in the evening with the Atlas Performing Arts Center (1333 H Street NE) Summer Film Series. At 5 p.m. see the "70's Family Series aka the Gen X Nostalgia Series" selection of The Call of the Wild. Then, stay for the "Cinema al Fresco aka Staycation Series" choice, Three Coins in the Fountain, at 8 p.m. Each film is $6.

FOOD & DRINK: The Chesapeake Crab & Beer Festival brings crab races, crab picking contests, music, and deliciousness to the National Harbor, this Saturday. 12-7 p.m., $75.

ART: ArtEnables (411 New York Avenue NE), "a studio and gallery for emerging artists with developmental and/or mental disabilities," is holding an inventory sale, offering 50% off everything. The art you buy will not only beautify your space, it also goes to support the organization. 2-5 p.m.

>> Partake in a free sketching session, hear music, and view artist LECKOmio's stencil designs in his show It's Not a Trick at Art Whino (173 Waterfront Street, National Harbor, MD). 7-9 p.m., free.

GAMES: Discover the Newseum (555 Pennsylvania Avenue NW) through a Scavenger Hunt with Professionals in the City. Bring a digital camera for gathering clues. A reception (at an added cost) will follow hunt and the score tallying. 12 p.m.-3 p.m., $40.

MUSIC: Remember The Mighty Mighty Bosstones? They're still going strong and are playing the 9:30 Club (815 V Street NW) this Saturday. Teenage Bottlerocket and The Flatliners are the opening bands. 8 p.m., $25.

SUNDAY

FOOD & DRINK: D.C. Beer Week continues at Pizzeria Paradiso's (2003 P Street NW) Rare Beer Brunch of five courses and five beers (Lagunitas Lil' Sumpin, Hitachino Nipponia, BFM Douze, Three Floyds Stay in School, and Founders Canadian Breakfast). 12 p.m., $60 per person.
