D.C. Man Kills Three-Month-Old Kitten In Front Of Children

A 30-year-old D.C. man was arrested last night and charged with animal cruelty after he allegedly struck a three-month-old kitten named Tyra in the skull with a broomstick. Ronnie Melson, who was visiting a friend at a home on the 1200 block of Howison Place SW, when the kitten would not move off the couch. He then went to the kitchen, grabbed a broom, and struck the animal. Melson told Washington Humane Society investigators that he only used the broom when he couldn't find a belt to strike the animal with. Think this story couldn't get any worse? According to investigators, two children who were inside the residence witnessed Melson deliver the fatal blow.
