FRIDAY

FOOD & DRINK: Cafe Atlantico (405 8th Street NW) is offering a free rum tasting (no reservations required) tonight, as a part of their third annual "Celebrate Rum" weekend, which continues through Sunday with special rum dishes and drinks. 4-6 p.m., Free.

MOVIES: It's the final night and Billy Madison is the final 90's movie of this year's Rosslyn Outdoor Film Festival. Head to Gateway Park (base of Key Bridge -- 1300 Lee Hwy, Arlington, VA) at 8 p.m. for the showing. Free.

>> Pulp Fiction is the midnight movie at E Street Cinema (555 11th Street NW) this Friday and Saturday. $10.

MUSIC: Hot Hot Heat hits the stage at the Rock and Roll Hotel (1353 H Street NE) tonight with the 22-20s and Hey Rosetta! $15, 9:30 p.m.

ART: The Hillyer Art Space (9 Hillyer Court NW) and Project Andini are holding a First Friday reception to introduce the new exhibit, Puzzling (a) Space, which showcases the work (painting, installation, video, and performance) of four contemporary Asian artists: Soun Hong, Chakraphan Rangaratna, Ding Ren, and Eric De Leon Zamuco. There will be free food and refreshments, and a $5 donation is suggested. 6-9 p.m.

SATURDAY

THEATER: The Ninth Annual Page-to-Stage Festival at the Kennedy Center (2700 F Street NW) is bringing together 40 D.C. theater companies for a weekend of free readings and performances. This Saturday, catch the Washington Improv Theater's iMusical: the Improvised Musical at the Millennium Stage South from 4:30-6 p.m., the Washington Shakespeare Company's Redd Reidenhude at the Terrace Theater from 4:30-6 p.m., Audible Group's Troublesome Gap, Episode 3 at the Terrace Gallery from 2-3 p.m., or one of the many many other options. September 4-6, 2-10 p.m. each day. Free, no tickets required.

>> The Shakespeare Theater Company's (Harman Hall, 610 F Street NW) Free for All event is an opportunity to see Twelfth Night for, well, free. To score a ticket, enter the lottery system online through this page between midnight and 1 p.m. on the day of the performance. Four performances are left: two on Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and two on Sunday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

POOL: Brightest Young Things is holding its last pool party of the summer, and they promise it's gonna be a super sell-out, logo-tastic, sponsored event. Come take a dip, have a free drink (included in price), and kick it with the DJ. 12 p.m., $15.

HAPPY HOUR: Grab your favorite four-legged friend and head to Yappy Hour at The Argonaut (1433 H Street NE). Partake in $9 bottomless Mimosas and the $5 Bloody Mary bar until 3 p.m. Dogs are welcome on the patio between 12 and 5 p.m.

GAMES: Hike up your kilt and make the long trek out to The Plains, Virginia this Saturday and Sunday for the 37th Annual Virginia Scottish Games at the Great Meadow Fairgrounds (5089 Old Tavern Road, The Plains, VA). There will be "Highland Athletics" (also known as tossing really heavy things), sheep herding, traditional and contemporary Scottish music and more. $18 for a one-day pass or $25 for both days.

MOVIE: Catch The Wiz at 5 p.m. and Roman Holiday at 8 p.m., through the Atlas Performing Arts Center's (1333 H Street NE) "70’s Family Series aka the Gen X Nostalgia Series" and "Cinema al Fresco aka Staycation Series" within their Summer Film Series. Each film is $6.

MUSIC: The Carter Barron Amphitheatre (16th Street and Colorado Avenue NW) hosts the 22nd Annual DC Blues Festival Saturday, with performances by Bryan Lee & the Blues Power Band, Diunna Greenleaf & the Blue Mercy Band, Cheryl Renee with Them Bones Blues Band, Doug MacLeod, and Big Boy Little Band. 12 p.m., free.

>> Happy 17th birthday Black Cat! (Which, they'd like to point out is more like 112 in cat years.) What better way to celebrate than with a bunch of local bands, including: Above the Silence, Autograph by Proxy, Brickshitter, Bruise Riot, FMRM, The Guilt, Hot Mess, Oh So Peligroso, Sobresaliente, Triangle Shirt Factory,and Wise Old Lions. 8 p.m., $5.

>>Solar Powered Sun Destroyer and Bronzed Chorus play The Red and the Black (1212 H Street NE). 9 p.m., $8.

SUNDAY

FOOD & DRINK: Solly's U Street Tavern (1942 11th Street NW) is holding a PBR-BBQ with free barbecue (Rib pit ribs and Sticky Fingers sides), cheap PBR, live Bluegrass from the band Chester River Runoff, cornhole and other games, prizes and more. While the event is free, donations will be accepted for the Capital Area Food Bank.12-8 p.m.

MOVIE: If the party's over but you're not quite ready to head home yet, head over to BloomBars (3222 11th Street NW) Sunrise Cinema. The crowd of the night selects the film. 2:30-6:30 a.m. $5-$10 donation suggested.

MUSIC: The Rock & Roll Hotel is throwing a "Labor Day Party, For the People, By the People" this Sunday. Wear a powdered whig (we hope they meant wig) for a free jager shot, or drink $3 rail drinks till 10 p.m. and $3 "Founding Father Brews" (Samuel Adams) all night. Three DJs will be on hand. Free to get in, 8 p.m.

>> Hank III, son of Hank Williams Jr., and his band Assjack take on the 9:30 Club (815 V Street NW). $20. 7:00 p.m.
